Hi folks. I have had a request from a few people to vote for their favorite Glock. You may leave responses in the thread if you like.

Thanks to the members who requested this poll, there were a few. We get this every once in a while and it's good to see if members taste have changed.

Eddie C.

***Edited this poll. I guess as an Administrator I can have more than ten choices. So I went and put them in. LOL

For carry, 26

but the 34 is considerable more comfortable to put 500 rounds through in a day than the 26

I only included 10 choices in the original poll, because that's all I thought it allowed. I was able to keep going back and adding 2 at a time to get it up where it should be.

My vote goes to the G29, mainly for it's specialized purpose. I regularly carry one for back-up on wild hog depredation hunts. Sure beats a knife any day.

This compact unit is easy to carry, and is the only caliber (10MM) in the Glock lineup that puts the hurt on 300 lb. wild hogs.

Of the three Glocks I currently own the 23 was my first one. Not to detract from the absolute blast I have with the 17 and the 21 I shoot better and more consistantly with the 23 and it is still my favorite to shoot. I'm also coming around with the G-32 barrel in the 23. I was at the range today and actually shot better with the .357 SIG than I did the 17

If there's ever any doubt, just check my handle...;f

I should explain why I voted for the G32. I have a few full size and a few sub-compact Glocks and love them all. I had been pestering my wife to get a compact model, and explained that I wanted to try the new .357 SIG, so the G32 would be the right choice. This went on for a quite a few months and then our anniversary was here. We exchanged cards and gifts, all was well in the world, then she leaned over for a kiss and a hug and I felt she was WEARING one of my Glocks in a belly band. She never does this! First thing I said was, I hope you were careful, (all my Glocks always loaded, all the time) when you were playing with that thing. She said I was and showed me. I then noticed the rear sight was a standard Glock rear sight. I don't have any Glocks with standard rear sights. I withdrew the Glock and it was a G32! She bought it used at our local gun shop and got a good deal on it. Our anniversary is in early December, so on Christmas among other things I got a G23 barrel, it came with the gun, but she thought it would be funny to wait for Christmas. Those that are married know how funny our wives can be at times.

Sappy stuff over.

I have been to a few shooting schools and carried the G30 for a very long time, as well as IDPA. I think that I shot it very well. I still can't shoot my G21 better then the G30. When I first started shooting the G32, putting it through its paces, I noticed it shot really well and very accurate. I replaced the sights with night sights, a 3.5# connector, and a real good polishing job. During my next few range sessions I noticed that I seemed to be shooting the G32 better than I shot my G30! I paid close attention the next couple of times at the range and sure enough it was true, I was shooting the G32 better than the G30. For all who have experience with different calibers, you know the recoil is different for each one. The .45 is more of a slight push and slow to return the barrel index back in line with the target. The .357 is much snappier, the recoil goes faster up and down. So the barrel seems to re-index faster on target. On the .357 the bullet leaves the barrel faster. I have a slight tremor problem, I have had it all of my adult life, that's just the way it is and I have no problems with it. You make adjustments to your situation and move on. I guess I handle the faster snappier recoil of the .357 SIG better than that of the .45 ACP. That probably explains why I don't shoot the G21 very well also. Kinda weird but that's the way it is for me. I have been carrying the G32 for a couple of years now and it has become my #1 go-to Glock! I also have the G23 barrel and an aftermarket 9MM barrel, three guns in one.

Such a hard choice. The 23 has been my carry pistol for so many years, It is with me all the time. if it is not on me it is on the nightstand.
But I like all the others too, for different reasons.
The 21 is my favorite to shoot pins with full size tables.
The 17L is my favorite to shoot pins with when they they use 2 X 10's
The 17 with Advantage Arms 22cal conv. for shooting Pin Tops.
The 24 to carry in the woods, or the 22 or 23.
The AA 22 cal to teach non shooters and then work up 17L,17 22,21
I want to vote for them all. I would like to have a lot more.
If I had to get rid of all but one it would be the 23.
:( I wouldn't want to be in that position.:(

I don't own one (or any handgun for that matter), but I've always liked the idea of the G29.

I have owned maybe 20 Glocks over the years. I started out with the G19 in 1988. Then when the 40 caliber came out, I waited to see if the new cartridge would take in the market. Bought G23's and 27's. Then decided the 9mm was the best cartridge for me, for the same reasons that many others have posted. Tried a couple of G17's and G26's, but went back to the G19.

When the 3rd generation frames came out, tried a couple of 17's again. Then finally went back to the G19. Full circle, albeit in 3rd generation form. So my choice in this poll was easy .... the G19. I love the G19 so much, I currently have four, all 3rd gen.

Yes, but it looks like the 23 is creeping up on 2nd place. It is, at this point, only about 10 votes behind, and gaining steadily. Not much question about the #1 though. It is a runaway victory for the 19 as it looks now. The race here is for 2nd place.

What I want to know is how many others here own a GLOCK 37. It was not listed in the poll when I voted. I live in California and a civilian cannot own any weapon with a magazine capacity of more than 10 rounds. The GLOCK 37 holds 10 rounds and uses the new .45 GAP(Glock Auto Pistol)Ammunition, so it has major stopping power, my guess is the most for it's weight 35ozs fully loaded. Yup, I got a lotta bang for my buck, and my perimeter is a safe as it can be for just one firearm. That's all I wanted, and I wanted more range time, otherwise I might have bought an AR15(Or the closest rifle I could get to my Class of 1968 Colt M-16. However, the State Of California screwed the whole assualt-rifle weapon purchase with all the State-Forced Modifications). Range time is easy for pistol firing as the range is only a half-hour away. Well I'm outa here, have a superday. Semper-Fidelis. CG13.

If I lived in a place that allowed only 10 rounders I would definitely get the 37. Good choice.

Thanks sgtslwilson. Now I just have to have more mags. I have two with three more mags(Glock/Factory) on the way. I also learned that the Fulton County, Georgia SWAT TEAM carries the Glock 37. Intersesting point of close one on one combat, after seperation from team and assault rifle scenario. Stopping power an absolute must. I used to sleep really well at night, but now after my purchase of a Glock 37, I sleep even better. I'm always aware of stuff, never leaves ya after being in combat in Vietnam. My pet Parrot stands guard in the living room, so nothin' gets past him anyway. Semper-Fidelis. CG13.

I chose my G19 over the G17 because it's more concealable. It is my only handgun and might become my only gun soon if it get rid of the AR.

Because I would have an awfully hard time carrying a Glock 17 with the level of comfort and concealment I get using my 26. That is why if you only get ONE you go halfway best-of-both-worlds and get a compact, probably a 19.

I am really surprised that the 9mm GLOCKs are doing so well in this poll. Nobody talks about them. I mean, I read about the GAP, the Big Dawg Model 30 in .45ACP, the powerful 10mm in the 20 and 29, but I never, ever read where someone's bragging about a 9mm. Yes, they do give "lipservice" to the Model 17 as the flagship of this company, but that's it. Don't get me wrong, I like the 9mm, it's a joy to shoot in the GLOCK. I guess I just thought the .40's would do better because of it's use by law enforcement (22,23,27), the ultimate in power/size and my personal favorite (23) and GLOCK 35 which easily makes major power in the .40 cal. I dunno, I guess the .40 GLOCKs are MY favorites.

Glock 23 for me!! I am still amazed that the 9mm is so far ahead. I mean if it has to be a 9mm, the 19 is the perfect size. I'm tempted to ask all those who tote a 9mm, "don't you guys care about, you know, stopping power, not having to shoot a guy 16 times to get them down, etc" but I won't. (although right now I do have tongue planted firmly in cheek). Everything you read or hear has the 9mm as passe', that the "wondernine" is gone. It's hard to accept the fact that the majority of Glock Talkers......nevermind. They are obviously the silent majority cuz you never hear from them. I hear about the .40, the .357, the 10mm, the .45 ACP, the 45 GAP. Maybe I should try a Glock 9mm, or better yet, find a way to get me one of those Glock 28's in .380, then we'll see who has the quicker follow-up shots and less recoil.

Also, for hikers, a 9mm is to small. If you want protection from cougar, etc. Get .40 or larger. 9mm has taken down even bear. But it is not something you would want to try.

Americandude, I read the thread you sent me to. It was in interesting question. I see that what you posted above was a summary of all the replies that you got. You truly are a good student, your other name fit. LOL, j/k. I'm not laughing at you I'm with you cuz that's the way my mind works too. Keep asking, that's the only way you learn. Although this does remind me of that scene from Jackie Brown where Robert DeNiro and Brigette Fonda are talking about how much Samuel L. Jackson's character knows about firearms;

(They're watching a video called "Chicks Who Love Guns" which shows a bunch of babes in bikini shooting full auto AK's, Augs, Tec-9, etc)

Melanie: Boring isn't it?
Louis: Eh, I could sit through it once.
Melanie: He thinks he's "Joe Gun" now.
Louis: Well, he seems to know a lot.
Melanie: He's just repeating ***** he heard. He's no more of a gun expert than I am.

That's what it reminds me of. You're repeating stuff you heard, but you're still a newbie. :stooges:

You're cool man, love your choice of the G23. It would be good cougar medicine, but it wouldn't be my first choice on bear. The thing is, I like balance. The G23 represents balance to me. Bigger than a 26/27 smaller than the 22 and much smaller than the 20/21, size is just right. Small enough to conceal, but large enough to be controlled and maintain its shootability. Also the .40 has proven to be a good killer (why mince words). A mere 1mm larger in diamenter than its "Nazi" counterpart, the 9mm Luger, it's ability to handle bullets ranging from 135 up to 200 grains, makes this, IMHO, a very effecient cartridge. It has a synergy that's hard to explain. I'd go so far as to say it is like the .30-06 of the pistol world. (BTW, the 06' brought down its fair share of Nazis! See the connection?) <insert America the Beautiful>. Also, is firepower. 14 rounds total, 2 less than the Wehrmacht offering, and 4 more than the all American .45 ACP in the nearest G23 equivalent the G30. There are so many reasons for choosing the G23 over the G19, but I won't go into them all. All I know is I would rather use a cartridge developed by S&W, than one used in a Luger. A Luger, a gun used to shoot at our boys in two world wars. A Luger was something you brought home as a war trophy, not something you stuff in your GLOCK! I don't know about you, but I say "Make Mine An American Caliber" "The G23 is for me!"

NOt sure how long this one was intended to stay up but from what I am seeing at this point things have settled out to be where they are going to be. I'm not surprised and any of the placings of any of the models. I kinda had a feeling that the 19 would win but I had no idea it would win by such a huge margin.

We all choose which models we buy for our own reasons and our own needs. There is no "wrong answer" as the saying goes. I do feel somewhat validated, though, to see that I have 3 of the top 5; the 23 (2nd place), the 17 (a close 3rd place) and the 21 (5th place). The validation is not improtant at all but it does feel good to know that other people have so much confidence in the same Glocks as I do.

I have enjoyed this poll a lot. Thanks a bunch, Eddie! :perfect10:

In Italy - and in Europe, in general - 9mm is the most widely used cartridge/handgun, definitely and by far: 9 Luger for the army and state police forces, 9x21 IMI for civilians and local police dpts. So the 19 and the 17 are very very common, and I think even the "best seller". Few people, in my Country, own a Glock in .40 or in .45.
I have 17, 22, 21, 34 and 35 but, as a ten lover, as soon as possible I'm gonna buy a 20, which I love.:)

Wow... I´m a little surprised that the G19 is ahead in the poll. I personally voted for the G19, but my story with the g19 is not what you can call typical. Never fired one or seen one, knew little about guns and owned none but wanted a gun and asked a friend what gun to get, he told me a G19 and so I did without even trying it. that was a long time ago, now I know a little more about guns. My point is that I voted for the G19 because it was my first gun. I love it, still if I for some reason was forced to have only one gun the G19 will be the keeper, but still I would tend to think that the G17 would be on the G19 toes as favorite. Anyways Go 19... you rule!!!!

2 a : OUTMODED b : behind the times

Please read my signature, it was written for guys like you. Seek validation? What a bunch of psycho-babble!!! LOL.

Look, I signed that it was written tongue in cheek and even admitted to being a sore loser, if you choose to be offended that's your business. I like the 9mm, and I'm sure I would die a quick and urine stained death if I were to ever be shot by one.
-Dre.

PS: You forgot to mention that my Glock was made in the same country that gave us Adolf Hitler. LOL! That's what made it funny or at least abrasive....

:laughabove: :laughabove: :laughabove:

OK, you've convinced me, I'm buying a Model 19!!! I want to be confident in my ability to end hostilities quickly. I no longer want to seek validation from others in my choice of calibers. So help me, Mr. 9mm. Let it be written, let it be done.

Hi. Sorry to get back to you so late. I was just trying to give you a hard time. No offense taken by me and none intended toward you. I did think the passe' comment was funny. While we have seen a HUGE growth in the .40's popularity it is very well behind the 9mm in sales. Maybe it's a euro-american thing? I don't know. But the 9mm is certainly not "past one's prime". Maybe the U.S. Military will adopt the .40? That would help catapult it to the top perhaps.

Wal-mart actually has the WWB 165 grn FMJ .40 cal ammo at $16.98 for 100 round value pack. The .38 special is at $18.88 for a 100 round value pack, and the 9mm is $11.98. So, the .40 is now cheaper to buy than the .38 special but has a ways to go to supplant the 9mm.

My first gun was a Ruger P91 DAO .40 cal. That long trigger stroke each time taught me how to shoot well. I have nothing against the .40. I carry a SP101 .357 mag every day and am not sensitive to recoil as the 158 grn bullet out of 2.25" barrel is quite a handful. I just shoot the 9mm because I can shoot it for very little money, accurate, and load the 124 grn +p's for business. These rounds have similar ballistics to the .40 and .45.

I am not trying to start a caliber flame with you.....they are so over done.....don't ya' think?

A 91% one shot stop (whatever that is) compared to a 95% one shot stop. Pretty close and similar ballistics. If Marshal and Sanow are right.

The Glock was also made in the same country that gave us Mozart and Freud.

I was just trying to give you a hard time. No offense taken by me and none intended toward you.

Now I feel bad..:sorry:

I really don't feel that strongly about caliber. I mean, what's 1mm? I'm serious about looking into a 9mm. That 19 is a good choice. I love the 23 though. Mine have been very accurate and easy to shoot. The 9mm does make sense when it comes to $$$. Ammo is so much cheaper. Like I said, everything was tongue-in-cheek, harmless ribbing. Take care.

That's what I use every week for target practice. I shoot a G-22..stock production except for Glock night sights. It feels good in my hand, shoots perfectly, and I even carry it concealed IWB behind my back.

I have a G17 and a G21, I'm not sure which I like better...

had the 17 for over 15 yrs now and have run thousands of rounds through it without a single problem, the 21's new...

for carry I like keltec's p40 though, it's as small as u can get for the power and as long as u don't limp wrist it it'll never fail - but they quit making it

my carry in the cooler weather is the G21, when u can wear clothes to conceal it better...

is there a way to look the age up by serial number ? thanks...

I figured I bump up a good thread that I hadn't noticed before.

I don't currently own a glock, but I recently rented a G30. I'm impressed with it's small size and accuracy. It feels wide but it's actually narrower, shorter and less high than my compact SIG P228! But most of all I like the G30's caliber. Maybe it really is better than a 9 after all;)

I havent shot them all but before I bought my Glock 19 I shot about 7 different glocks and the 19 just felt "right". Fits my hand perfectly, pretty easy to conceal, accurate, and best of all not to rough to handle by a lefty. I love my Glock 19 but I have a feeling the 19 wont be the only Glock in my collection.

Despite my personal preference for the GLOCK 22 and .40 cal S&W, I can see that I've got to go try shooting a 19 just to see why that model is so popular among our fellow users. Thanks for running the poll as it's been very informative and fun to follow.

I picked the 30 but must admit that I have an aftermarket 10mm barrel in it. I really prefer 10mm to 45acp but wanted a "twofer" so now I have a model 30 or a model 30 with a 10mm barrel and can switch off between the two. Same slide and the extractor seems to work fine. Just swap the barrel and recoil spring.

In the first place,i never thought id like a Glock. On a whim i bought the little G26 which changed my mind (or what little of it i have left) hee hee,but i absoloutely love that weapon and carry it when i go out.I recently purchased the G23 and love that even more,i even switch it out with the G26 for ccw at times.I took the G23 to the range yesterday and thought it shot like a dream even though it has more muzzle flip than the G26,I even enjoy the muzzle flip, lets me know im holding some serious power in my hand.So you see,you can teach an old dog new tricks!! ;)

Gotta vote for my wonderful G23! Right balance of size and power. I carried one both on and off duty for 12 years or so. Big enough for a duty holster. Small enough to conceal easily.

My second choice would be the G20 for the power as a field gun. Doesn't conceal as well as the 23, but it has other attributes. If you want that power and more concealability the G29 is a pretty good compromise.

If you throw competition into the mix, although I love my 34/35s, you could still do it with the 23. The 20 might be better because you can get .40 S&W barrels for it and it becomes a very easy shooting match winner!

If Hillary is elected, and I'm forced to choose only one Glock to keep, I'll stay with the G23 and feel well armed.

People,I need some questions answered if possible. I just got my G30 yesterday and when after I cleaned it and lubeit,I loaded it up with 10+1 and the slide went back off flush on the frame. But,when I loaded up with just 10 the slide was flush and it was ready to shoot. Is that how the new Glocks are nowor is it a problem???? I also saw something that I had read about earlier in the Glock general notes that there is a small bent piece of meatal in the frame on the left side right by the firing pin boltface.
Any suggestions?????? Thanks,Rich Ziemies,17z

Most american Glock owners might prefer a G19, but when the .45ACP is brought up, the 1911 is the pistol it is most often found in. I myself am a big fan of the .40. With the speed of a 9mm and the hitting power of a .45, you get the best of both worlds!!!!

i own a 17 1st gen and a 24c 3rd gen. i prefer the 24c. yes, it kicks a bit more, but the extra weight on the front end makes it more comfortable to shoot. the nose rises more on the 17, where as the 24, u get more of a push backward feel. the sensation is more pleasing to the touch.

I have since got a 36 and after a few trips to the range and 4 or 5 hundred rounds to check it out/break it in/drive it around the block or what ever it has now become not only my daily carry but my alltime favorite Glock and I'll go so far as to say as far as being a shooter and fitting my hand and being consistent and accurate it is the favorite of all the pistols I've ever owned.
