Veprs Assets Seized

This is a follow up to a past post to correct or update information on the Vepr ordeal.

Izhmash did not buy out Vepr or (Molot) instead Izhmash seized Molots assets after Molot had lost a patent infringement lawsuit which Izhmash had begun in 2003. The judgment that the Russian courts rendered against Molot caused them to be unable to pay the settlement and royalities levied against them for further Vepr production. Under Russian law because the unpaid amount was impossible for Molot to pay. Izhmash was able to seize all of Molots assets and holdings.

This action occurred on March 13th 2005.

My Vepr, bought in Oct of 2005 was manufactured in Sept of 2004. I imagine I got one of the last Veprs that was made and imported before the takeover.

The new owners of the Molot plant Izhmash, may already be manufacturing Veprs. Well just have to wait and see. Will we have a new importer or the same one? will there be a price increase?

Since only Molot still makes SAWs for the Red Army, I can't imagine them closing the plant entirely. So we might still see more Veprs, but who knows when, and if someone other than RA imports them, I'll get a 223.

BTW do E. German 223 mags work in a 223 Vepr?

Took my buddy out to the range 2 weeks ago--he'd never handled an AK or a Glock before. Man, he had more fun and shot both of them more than I did.:)
