I'm considering adding an HK .45 to my "family". My other 9 HKs are the P7-series, so I've had no experience with the USP line.
I'll probably get a can in the future, so the standard USP and the Compact are not a good fit. However, should I go with the Tactical or the Mk23?

if you can afford it, get the mark 23. rumor is, there will be no more mark 23's, so if you want one, buy it now. you can always get the tactical later.
i own both, and love them both.

The Mk23 is an amazing pistol, but even high price aside, I felt it's grip was just too fat for my tastes. I'd definatly suggest holding both side by side to compare them. As an investment, the Mk23 may go up in value due to their scarcity, but for me that's moot point because I make darn sure I want a gun before I buy it, and therefore I don't plan on ever selling any of my guns :).
I love my Tactical and can't wait to get a suppressor for it.

I, too, have both. Both are superb designs with different practicalities (if you can even call a MK23 practical).
As stated above, the MK23 rumormill has it as being scrapped. Get the MK23; you can get a Tactical later.
Both are great guns - the Tactical is a little more portable than the MK23, so if you had the urge to - a Tac can be carried (about the same size as a full size Beretta) - The MK23 is Desert Eagle size (of course not as heavy).
As a matter of fact, I'm looking at buying a Tac today as I regret selling the one I had to a fellow board member a while ago.
One more factor - be prepared to spend over $1000 more than the Tac for the MK23 if you decide to go that route.
Good luck as you can't go wrong with which ever one you choose.

Funny, I don't have those same regrets. ;e

Thanks guys -- I'm leaning toward the MK23. Does anyone know if CDNN still has any in stock for the $1799 price?

Well, I went with the Tactical in .45 today. I was still undecided when I called CDNN until Tommy told me he only had 2 Tacticals left in stock and the computer showed around 100 Mk23s.
Therefore, I grabbed one of the remaining Tacticals for $890 (includes case and 2 12-round magazines) and will let the "fun money" account recover -- and possibly order the Mk23 in a few weeks.
Can't wait to try it out!
Congrats and great price! I thought I did pretty good when I pd $950 for mine this past Sunday. $890 is excellent but I guees it may creep a bit after shipping and FFL fees but none the less - it is still a good deal.
You won't be disappointed - I'm planning to take mine out for a test drive this weekend.
Here's a pic with my 340PD. ;)

I ordered the set for the USP. Someone correct me but the slide for the Tactical appears to be the same slide on the FS USP's - even the sight cutouts appear to be the same. Not sure why they say not for the Tactical unless it is because they are low profile and won't match the height of the factory sights. Thats the only reason I can think of.
I'll let you know if they fit whenever I receive them.

Yep, that's what I thought - thanks
If you have really deep pockets, get the 23 ...
otherwise, the TAC is great!
