Last week, I had the opportunity to shoot at the Olympique Lyonnais Tir (gun club) in France.
It was a nice, modern outdoor range set in what appears to be an old quarry. A friend of mine is a member and I took him up on the opportunity to represent our country in a little informal 25 meter off-hand shoot.
I had the opportunity to shoot a Smith & Wesson model 60 at 25 meters. The sights were adjusted a little funny. He told me where I needed to place the sight on the target (practically pointed the ground in my opinion). It took a few rounds to get my bearings. Not much fun.
Then came time for the pistol I would use in the competition -- a CZ 75. I've long thought CZ's were a good value and eventually one would be in my safe. I now cannot get one fast enough! Right now I am living in Massachusetts where coming by one is difficult. However, I am moving back to Texas in the near future and my first pistol purchase will be a CZ 75. The pistol that I shot had some very good quality target sights installed but otherwise was stock. I was shooting some reloads in it. One thing that suprised me was that you are allowed to keep the pistol in your home. It must have a trigger lock on it. I was also shocked to find out that "high capacity" magazines were allowed. Of course, those are "standard" magazines in my opinion. The French were suprised that some places in the states consider "high capacity" magazines any more dangerous than a ten-rounder.
That about sums it up for me.... I am going to be a CZ owner in the near future.
