View Full Version : Honda Transalp
Another one of my favorites. Mine was actually red, and a 1990 as I recall.
It was a 600cc twin. Again it was light, and easy riding. I took it to to daytona several times, and my buddies started calling it the trans slap.
I remember leading a group of riders down the interstate in Florida at about 90 MPH. When I laid my head down near the tank I could feel and hear the tank sizzling, but she was a smooth runner. I was leading a pack of Ducatis, an MG, and a Triumph. Any of them could have blown by me, but they were willing to let me be the bird dog out front.
I do believe that these things are still being sold in Europe.
I love them, and the Africa Twin too and wish they were sold here in the United Estatos.

T, is that your Transalp?
It looks like it has a taller windscreen on it, and lower fairing protection.
Nope. That was just another member's ride that showed up at one of our monthly pie runs. Ride to Eat, Eat to Ride.
A couple of my riding buddies ride Transalps, they are available here in South Africa.
The current model is a 650 twin, its got a 21 inch front wheel and does surprisingly well offroad.
Here is a pic or two of my and a friend on our recent Mozambique weekend ride, good fun.
Having said this, the TA seemed to get "tired" a lot and took about 15 "naps" on the trip, the KLR none.
But then again not everyone can ride in soft sand, it got much better near the end and now my bud is an expert on the soft stuff.
I used to occasionally ride my T/A on light trails. The limiting factor was tires. Off road bikes really need Knobbies to ride in the dirt.
Glad to see its still sold overseas. It was a great bike-
