Checking out the Mossy 500 Cruiser in .410. I'm a fan of the .410 gauge and would like to add a pistol-gripped shotgun to my collection. This weapon would serve as my bedroom gun.

Any thoughts on using the .410 for home defense?

As long as you hit the guy there shouldnt be any problem.

If I was going to use a .410 it would be the SAIGA semi-atuo, preferably with 10rd mags. I would aslo consider the largest or heaviest laoding of "hevi-shot" that I could get or the #" 5 ball 000 buck shot loads.

Better than a poke in the eye from a sharp stick... but not much.

I think with the proper loads and proper shot placement you would be ok.

My experience with pump .410's (I'm assuming the 500 cruiser is a pump) has been feeding issues. I would want to put some serious rounds under rapid fire first to make sure it functions 100%.

I dont see why you wouldnt go with the 12 gauge

and if you're recoil shy go with the 20

410 fills a niche female market, but even small women can handle the 20...

I just wouldnt bother.
