Mag length Q

I recently bought some mag pouches that are slightly too small for 30 round AK mags. How does the length of a 30 round AK mag compare with a 30 round .223 or other 30 round rifle mag?

You may have bought mag pouches made for AR style mags. A standard steel 7.62x39 AK mag is about 2.5 inches longer and has a much more pronounced taper to it than AR mags. A 20 round 7.62 AK mag and a 30 round AR mag are almost the same length but the AK 20 still has more of a curve to it. Try either getting enough 20 rounders to fill your pouches or get pouches made for 30 round AK mags would be my advice.
