View Full Version : G27 customizing feed back
Wondering if I might obtain some feed back on what I'm considering doing to my 27.
One inch longer, ported barrel. The longer barrel would be to allow the porting and compensate for the approx. 8% lost through porting. The porting to reduce recoil and barrel raise for quicker target accquizition.
A SS guide rod with a 20# spring for increased reliability. The slight increase in front weight should also slightly decrease barrel raise.
A 3.5# trigger for smoother firing.
Thanks!

Is this your carry weapon?

I haven't decided if it will be or not. The 3.5 trigger is out as a Glock armourer has informed me it would void the warranty. The other mods have been done.I went with a 9mm ported barrel but really don't see that much difference in recoil or barrel raise so I'll use it for practice and the 40 for carry if I decide I want to carry it.

As far as I know a Glock 3.5 trigger does not void the warranty. I have a 3.5 connector in every Glock I own execpt one and that is my carry gun. What well void the warranty is shooting lead bullets and the gun blowing up. I have had Factory Glock armoures look at my guns and they have hever said anything about haveing a 3.5 Glock connector in the guns and they still work on them for free at GSSF matches. Fo the SS guide rod and spring for reliability. We were shooting a Glock 18 and melted the guide rod and did not know it at the time. We found the guide rod not knowing it came out of the Glock 18 and fired about another 1000 rds threw the gun before we decided to take the gun apart to see how it worked, The gun worked just like it was suppose to without the guide rod. Don't waste your money on all of these mods. Been there done that and have gone back to stock. other than the Glock 3.5 lb connectors. and polish job.

I bought the barrel and guide rods from B&T gun shop in Cleveland and when I inquired about a 3.5 trigger, he said if there was an encounter or problem with the gun, and Glock inspected the gun and found the 3,5 mod, they wound disinvowl themselves because of it and refuse repair.??

Heavier recoil springs generally decrease reliability.

What about the guide rod dampers I see advertised that fits between the front of the guide rod, where the springs contact the slide, supposidly decreasing wear of impact on the slide?

I dont think that guy knows what he is talking about as long as you have a (Glock) 3.5 lb connector in the Gun there is no problem. Glock 34 and 35 guns come with a 3.5 connector installed in the gun. as long as it is a Glock part that is interchangeable in the gun and it is a Glock part, there is no problem. As far as the guide rod dampers this is a Glock not a 1911, you do not need them. If you want, put the Glock 3.5 lb connector in the gun do a polish job, change the sights. and use the rest of the money you want to spend on ammo. And if you want to shoot lead bullets get a different barrel. Other than that you are wasteing your money. Shoot it and enjoy.

Yes, he did say Glock allowed 3.5 in their compitition models only.

But if this is a carry gun as i asked earlier i would leave the trigger stock, You don't want a light trigger for a carry/duty weapon. As for reliabilty the stock recoil rod is superior in my eyes as far as a SD Weapon! Just because of the fact that i've fired thousands of rounds through my glocks with Absolutely 0 problems related to the recoil rod. The SS has not proven its worthy to me as far as me willing to put my life on its reliability!

A Glock 34 and 35 are called compition guns. Yes they come with a 3.5 connector. If you get a connector that is made by Glock. No you can not get a 3.5 connector from Glock for a G27 because I guess of most people use it for personal protection and they fill it is to light of a trigger pull for that use. but a 34 and 35 is for compition. With that said, If you take a Glock part that is made by Glock like a 3.5 connector that well fit on any Glock made there is no problem.Like I said that guy does not know what he is talking about. You are not voiding any Glock warranty. Out of about 10 Glocks that I have owned. every one has or had a 3.5 Glock connector in it. Most of them have been inspected by factory Glock armoures. I personally know a few of the factory Glock armoures. One of the people I shoot with is a Glock armourer. We all have 3.5 lb connectors in our guns. I try and shoot at least 7 GSSF matches a year. The other shooter in my group that we travel with shoot 10 to 12 matches a year. I know quite a few other people all around the US that shoot in Glock matches We all have 3.5 connectors in our guns and all of the gun except for Master Unlimited have to be stock guns or parts that Glock has made. If you do not want to belive me call Glock monday morning at 770-437-4718 and ask them they well be glad to answer any question you might have.
Thanks Bob! I will check with them and see if they'll confirm it via an email. Then I'll take the email in and see what he has to say. Since I've never shot a 3.5, I would like to feel the difference before having one installed as a possable carry. From most peoples reaction, it seems it may not be advisable.

You're not going to get an email from Glock.
A 3.5 Glock connector will not void your warranty. You're armorer is nuts.
