View Full Version : G-35 or HK 40 Expert?
I am considering between these two guns. They are simuliar in size and maybe performance. But for the $, which do you think is the better of the two? I do not go to matches, and this gun will primarily be a target gun, and occationally will take it with me hiking (with Doubletap ammo of course). I used to own a HK Mk-23, and to date it was the most accurate gun I have shot, so I am familiar with HK quality. But I have also shot the Glock 35, and it shot very accurate as well. The fit and finish are not quite as good as the HK, but it costs hundreds of dollars less and shoots when you pull the trigger. And of course HK decided to stop importing the Expert series-so I will have to search around.
Bottom line, for those who have shot both, which do you perfer and why? I have no problem spending the extra money if it is worth it. Thanx. :)

Your in the HK forum. I prefer HK to Glock but thats me. However nothing against Glock at all. I just prefer the HK. And besides if you can get an Expert at a good price go for it. If its out of production you wont always be able to find one so go for the HK Expert as the G35 will always be around.
I am in the HK forum of GlockTalk. So I thought this would be a good place to start vs Hkpro.com ;)
Anyway, the Experts are more rare, so they should retain their value better-good point.
I have the expert and a bucket of Glocks. The expert will cut most peoples group sizes in half compared to a Glock (mine included). (match trigger, O-Ring barrel). Most of the rest is just fit and feel and controls as far as what you like better in your hand. Do I think the Expert is worth the bucks, YES, Do you need one over the other, it all comes down to group size in my book.
I could go on about how I like the fit an feel of the USP better but by asking the question I take it you they both fit your hand and the control (mag releases, slide lever) placement is not a big factor for you.
Rockets Out....
PS: In many ways you can answer your own question here with a bit of info. The MK23 is very similar to the Expert in most ways but the grip is huge, if the MK23 came in a Glock 40 sized grip woukld you take that over a Glock.
Thanx Rockets for the reply. I just wanted to know who has had the opportunity to shoot both guns, and get some feedback on their opinions good or bad for either gun. The Expert will have the edge on quality over the G-35, but the G-35 may be as accurate.
I really doubt it will be as accurate. At least not out of a ransom rest or bench resting. So much of accuracy is with the user so it is very posible the G35 may be as accurate for you but for me my Glocks are accurate guns, the Expert is a tackdriver.
I doubt if I am telling you anything but it's all in the end user. Is there any chance you can shoot both before purchase?
Just trying to help, the build and quality are sort of a given with a HK, not that a Glock is dog by any means in build quality.
If you are in Nebraska or close you can sure shoot mine.
Respectfully,
Rockets
Thanx Rockets for the offer. I am not sure when I will be out that way. I live in SEA and fly out of DEN. I have shot the Glock 35 and it is accurate-not as accurate as my former Mk-23 though. I think the only way to bring the G-35 up to the accuracy level of the 40 Expert is to get a fitted Barsto or Jarvis barrel for it. That is an option I was considering. The Expert will probably still have the better trigger though. So even with the fitted barrel, the Expert ends up being the better of the two. Plus it's pretty exclusive.

Ahh come on, you know you want the expert! Shoots as good as the 23, well close anyway. Just the right balance and feel. Already has the poly barrel(cant get better)Great sights. Put one in your hand and pump some rounds out. A serious pistol for someone who cares to send the best! I really like Glocks too, but lets face it you admitted you would have to change the barrel already, Just to try and get close to the HK. So why not buy a "Sure thing" You whont be sorry.
i have a tactical and a g35
its not even close,
the hk tac which is pretty similar to a expert/elite is just more accurate.
