Cabelas (http://cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0022899215188a&type=product&cmCat=search&returnString=QueryText=7.62x39&N=4887&Ntk=Products&Ntx=mode+matchall&Nty=1&Ntt=7.62x39&noImage=0&returnPage=search-results1.jsp)
ordered some last week, just got it in. I got enough 7.62 now to last me a good 6 months. Hopefully by then the price will be more reasonable on it.

I got an email from AIM stating they expect some more Silver Bear in about a month from now. That's what I am holding out for...
I knew a bunch of you guys love Wolf though.
I'm 99% sure it will be polymer coated, but you can call to verify if you need to.

I don't love Wolf, at this point I love anything with 7.62x39 stamped on it!

I won't lie. I've been tempted to buy some of this too, just because of how scarce it's been. But I am hoping the guy from AIM is telling the truth and that the info is good.
(fingers crossed)
I had it in my cart, and all my info in, and then decided to back out. First off I want FMJ, second I think the ammo thing may be sorted out soon. Im going away in april, so hopefully it will be available when I get back.
the cabela's i got in was polymer.

I linked the HP stuff (It's much better IMO), but they also have FMJ if you have to have it for some reason.
I have read that the HP does not expand, and can sometimes cause jams, thats why I was avoiding it. I could be wrong though.
I tried adding some FMJ, but it was backordered.
After re-reading my previous post, just wanted to say thanks for the link, as its hard to find ammo, and that really is not a bad price. I kinda seemed ungrateful by my last post..did't mean it that way.

I don't think you're ungrateful. I didn't order any from them either...
I don't buy the HP because I want it to expand. I'd imagine the terminal abilities of the HP vs. the FMJ are rather similiar. I like the HP because it's much more accurate than Wolf's FMJ. I haven't ever noticed a decrease in accuracy vs. the FMJ either.

I am going to cabela's this weekend to pick up a thousand rounds or so. I only live about 45 minuted from a store so will drive and pick me some up.
Yep here is the FMJ ammo!

The Wolf HP and FMJ bullets are the same bullets. Wolf just cuts the tip off the ammo to be boxed and sold as Hollow point. I have fired many rds of Wolf HP into water jugs and wet newspaper, trying to get one of the rds to expand. All I ever get is a "bent" bullet.

I've had a JHP that was only a little crushed and one half of the hollow point had started to open up! I recovered it from a block of clay.
Normally though like you said, they bend and squeeze out lead from both ends.
I prefer the FMJ bullets with the air gap. Some day I'll get around to trying out the 154gr Wolf JSP's I have.

I have never tried clay. How many pounds did it take to stop the bullet? What kind of Clay? I have some Wolf 154 JSP's I want to try next. I am saving milk jugs now to stop the 154grn 7.62x39 bullet.

It wasn't much. I don't remember how many lbs it was. It was some modeling clay that my mother had. I'd say it sat for over a year, maybe more, and was very firm.
I don't think it was more than six inches thick, may have been less. It went through that and into a water box put behind it.
I had a few of those blocks and shot different bullets into them years ago.

I like the HP round for the simple fact that most gun ranges around here do allow the use of FMJ ammo. So the 7.62X39 HP ammo is the only economical way I have of shooting my AK.
My wife stopped by cabela's for me today...no wolf :(

It would be nice if there was "Blazer" 7.62x39 FMJ..........
They are SOLD OUT, accepting back orders only for a "possible" resupply 5/4/2006 :frown:

I stopped by cabela's in Fort Worth any they are also out of 7.62x39. The guy in charge of the ammo department said no matter how much they put out it is always gone in a couple days. He was unsure when the next shipment was to arrive. Finding 7.62x39 ammo is not supposed to be this hard. On a side not, I did buy all the .223 wolf they had. Sorry.

I just can't figure out why no one can keep ammo in stock. ;)

They do have a lot of ammo in stock. Just not any 7.62x39 or .223. I think it is because most people that by the above mentioned ammo typically by more at one time that say someone who is buying ammo for their 300 win mag. Let's say they have 50 cases of 7.62 and 50 of .223. If most people are like me and buy two cases when they go to the store. It doesn’t take long to run out. Now I would think a good store manager would recognize this and keep more in stock, but apparently not.:)
