View Full Version : Para-Ordnance conversion 10mm
I have seen a lot of the discussions about converting the Para-Ordnance P-1640 to a 10mm and I was wondering if all of the P-1640 models could be converted. Para-Ordnance has the model SX1640SR and I was thinking of doing a conversion. Are the guns doing well after the conversation? Do they do well with hot loads? What are some of the small things I need to keep in mind? Are the mags universal on all models?
Thanks for any help.

All Para 40 calibers can be easily converted to 10mm. Yes, yes, yes.
Hers's what to do:
Ream 40 S&W barrel to 10mm Auto by competent gunsmith (Hunter Customs charges $67 w/ return shipping incl. Send only your barrel.)
Change springs to heavier ones, recoil, hammerspring. Stock P16 is 20# recoil and 23# hammerspring. Recoil should be around 22-23# and hammer about 24-25#. Every gun is different.
Install EGW oversized firing pin stop.
The FP stop and springs help to reduce the slide velocity and give the next round time to get pushed up and chambered by the bolt. This is the "small" thing. Correct chamber and control the slide velocity.
