View Full Version : Is it difficult to change a connector bar?
Is this a do-it-yourself project or brain surgery?
Where does one find instructions on the procedure?
Thanks

Very easy. Sometimes, the hardest part is removing the trigger pin. Just be patient, follow the instructions and take a good look as you go and re-assemble in reverse order. See this for pretty good disassembly | reassembly instructions and images:

Thanks for the link. Looks pretty easy to do.
How can I tell a Glock stock connector bar from a third party/after market piece?

That can be a little harder. You can see how to tell the differences in Glock OEM connectors, here:

Note that the standard 5 Lb OEM connector bears no marking and the 3.5 and 8 Lb bear a minus (-) and plus (+) sign respectively. Also note the 5 Lb is "flat" and the 3.5 and 8 Lb versions are beveled in opposite directions. This bevel angle is fairly consistent with aftermarket connectors as well although they may not have the minus and plus markings to identify them.
Most all aftermarket connectors appear very similar but with subtle differences. Some (but not all) 3rd party connectors are clearly marked for instance, Lone Wolf marks the leg of their connector with a stamped "LWD". Others, such as some of the Ghost connectors have intentionally left some parts over-sized for custom fitting.
As long as you stay with OEM and popular drop-in replacements from the likes of Lone Wolf, Scherer and a few others you should be fine and Custom Glock Racing carries some pre-polished OEM connectors. In my carry weapon, I presently have the 3.5 LB Lone Wolf in it and find it very good right out-of-the-box. A properly polished OEM is always a solid choice.
I'm trying it now, about 1/2 thru. Thanks for the link to the TopGlock instructions, they make it easy. Only difficulty is the trigger pin is in tight on my '92 G17. It's never been taken apart.
Thanks also to the folks at TopGlock for the instructions.
Took about 30 minutes, I'm very careful with something I've never done. It made a big difference in my 92 G17.
