S.A. ejector

I tried this in the 1911 Clubhouse and got a lot of responses, but none that really answered my question, so I figured I'd give it a shot here.

Anyone ever change one of the new non-pinned S.A ejectors? If so, how? I've read here that one or two have had them come out and SA fixed it. If one does come out do you need to have it secured, or could you just place it back in and let the slide keep it in? I've heard some 1911s are this way from the factory - can anyone confirm or deny this?

A local 'smith said if he were to remove one he would use a very fine point torch (my paraphrase) on the ejector itself to heat the adhesive. Sound like a good idea or bad? Any other suggestions?

1911 type ejectors do not need to be pinned (or secured in any way that may be permanent). They are kept in place by the slide.

I don't know what SA is using, but when I know it's an "adhesive" I use heat to loosen it.

For what it's worth I usually install the part without anything other than pressure holding it in place, and I've never had a problem. Of course I've only been doing them since '82.
