View Full Version : Anyone know about a GP WASR10/63?

That thread has been on ar15 for a while, and no one seems to know at this point whether this rifle is pre-ban, post-ban, and what the 63 represents.
Any ideas, very intriguing.

The WASR-10 GP takes high cap magazines, has a threaded barrel, and a bayonet lug. According to Lxpony on the other forum, the 63 is the year that Romania started making the own AKM's

WASR GP 10/63
was originally a single stacked rifle that upon entering the country had the magwell enlarged to accept normal magazines. It also has a threaded muzzle with slant compensator, and a bayonet lug, though not sure if these were installed at the factory in Cugir, or at the CAI facility.
"Pistol Mitraliera Model 1963" is the official Romanian Army designation for the full-stocked, domestically-produced AKM.
There are NO "pre-ban" Romanian AKM's.
