Did a search and didn't find what I was looking for. What are your velocities from a Government Model 1911 5" with Double Taps, specifically 135gr JHPs and 180gr XTPs? Thanks.

Just add about 25-30 fps to the boxflap velocities for a 5" tube.

So the 135gr would go 1625-1630 and the 180gr would go 1375-1380?

That should be about right unless there is something unique about your gun.

Close.... The only point of mention is that light bullets benefit more from a longer barrel. Conversely, heavy bullets are more "efficient" out of short barrels (than lighter bullets)
I would expect you'd get maybe 1640-1650 from a 135gr and maybe 1250-1260 from a 200 gr; maybe around 1370 from a 180gr. Lets keep in mind, we're probably splitting hairs here since I doubt the velocity difference would be felt by the target anyways. :)
