Purpose of "Subscribe to this Forum"

What is accomplished by subscribing to a forum and how does one unsubscribe?

I subscribe to the forums I regularly visit. I can then to to my user control panel and see the forums I subscribed to, to see if there have been any new posts in them. There will be a green light next to those with new posts. I find it easier to go through instead of trying to find all the forums through the front page of Glock Talk.

You can unsubscribe by going to your user control panel. You'll see those you have subscribed to and there is an option next to the forums for unsubscribing.
