Back from the dead

For all you Devil Dogs who may not have known! 1/9 has been
resurrected. The famous Walking Dead of the Vietnam War! Trained
by the Korean Marines before going to Vietnam, and using their
tactics the name Walking Dead was earned do to the high casualtie
rate. The enemy would let other Marine units though while attacking
1/9 t get rid of those trained by Koreans so they could be replaced
by new Marines.

I worked with them a bit in the Nam. I was with 1st Recon Battlion, C company in 70. The Rok Marines were damn tree jumpers lol.

As a Boot in the Fleet, I was hounded mercilessly by a 1/9 Marine Gunny, that expected nothing but the best from all of us. Even if we weren't "His" directly.

Hard ass one minuite, reassuring the next, kept the Punk Brass in check, never let us wonder what the direction was.

He was a walking mess of issues, and we covered for him when things got stupid and he couldn't take the bull**** anymore.

The new 1/9 has some boots to fill.

Given time, and opportunity, the new 1/9 will rise to match the old, as is tradition.
