I saw this on the license plate of a NH pick-up truck in Sunapee, NH. I HAD to follow this truck to check out the driver, and sure enough, the truck stopped in the driveway of a Lake Sunapee house. Out stepped a tall, elderly gentleman, and I gave him a friendly greeting.
I asked him if he served on the Enterprise during WWII, and he said YES, 1941-1944. He was a Machinist Mate on the USS Enterprise CV6 during Pearl Harbor, the Doolittle Raid, Midway, Guadalcanal, Leyte Gulf, etc.
This BLEW ME AWAY. Standing before me was a gentleman who was witness to some of the most decisive battles in world history, all seen from the deck of THE MOST FAMOUS AIRCRAFT CARRIER.
What a hero, living in backwater NH!
