View Full Version : 1st local shoot, help me?
I am going to soon join in on a range sponsered , kind of informal shoot, with the club boys , a league of sorts.
I just want to see if I can measure up to some competition, been told I could better 3/4 of the shooters there. I have been shooting only 3 months on weekends, and I fire FMJ 115 gr. WWB target ammo.
It shoots fine in the G-19, and seems accurate enough. The only other ammo I have shot is Cor-bon JHP `S .
My question is, what do you folks think would be a more accurate round to shoot for the 19? Brand? Weight?
Thanx, imout
I use WWB for my local shoots too. I dont run a comped gun anymore and the WWB work just fine for the steel targets out of a G-34 and G-17L.

What kind of competition, what ranges, what target sizes?
If it is an action shoot with large targets at close to medium ranges, a knockoff of IPSC or IDPA; then WWB or other econo-ball is plenty good enough. If it is a bullseye or plate shoot at some distance, it is going to challenge a G19 no matter what you put in it.
Go shooting, don't dream up problems that may not be there.
Thanx, folks, for the responses, I appreciate any info on this.
I wasn`t sure if people actually shoot the WWB for competition.
I think it`s slow fire, close (25 feet ) paper targets , for bulls-eye hits.
From reading other posts regarding ammo, I though it wise of me to see if other ammo would be more accurate than what I currently shoot , as I said, I am new to this big wide world of shooting, AND HAVING A BALL !
I figure my next step will be some light competition , get some tips, learn faster by jumping into the alligator pit.
Any other tips would be highly apreciated.

Well, it all depends on the size of the bullseye.
I'd go with what you know works in your gun and see what happens. If the accuracy requirement is more than your ammo will do (and you can be sure it is the ammo and not the operator) then try something else. There is a WWB JHP that might do better.
