View Full Version : G30 Problem?
I've had a NIB G30 for about a week now. I've fired 240 rounds through it with absolutely no problems. Because the magazines are also new, the mag springs are somewhat stiff right now. Here's the "situation" as it stands right now. With a fully loaded 10 rounds in either of the mags, the magazines load just fine as long as they are loaded with the slide of the G30 in the locked open position. If the slide is closed however, I run into resistance when trying to load either of the fully loaded 10 round magazines. I am not forcing the issue and am not "slamming" the mag into place and have not done so. If I remove one round and go with 9 rounds, I don't have any problems loading either of the magazines in either the slide open or closed position.
Any feedback would be appreciated. Are the mag springs just too stiff right now? It appears as though the 10th round is properly seated. There does not appear to be any "bulging" at the top of the magazines with the full load of ammo.
Thank you.
Slam 'em in. Its made to carry 10 rounds in the mag.

There's your problem - it's SUPPOSED to be tight and you're SUPPOSED to slam it. Use some force.

With ten rounds in the mags, turn the mag upside down and push the top round in a bit more against a hard surface and leave them loaded for about a week, they should lossen up.

there are both 9 and 10 round magazines for the G30. the ten rounder has a pinkie rest, the 9 rounder does not, for better concealability.

It is OK to slam them in.
It is also OK to load them with 9 rounds which is what I would do if carrying for self defense. The last thing you want to do is fail to seat the mag and have it fall out when you need it.

+1. i would load the mag w/ 9, chamber a round, and then put another round in the mag so you still get a full ten rounds.
