And sucked to high heavens! I shot in the ESP division with my XD-9 Subcompact (don't actually have a Glock yet.) I had the worst score in the div...by about 35 points or so :freak: I don't care, though. I had a great time and everyone was extremely helpful and I learned a ton. I'm hooked!! I'm ordering an OD G-17 tomorrow; I hadn't yet because I wanted to make sure IDPA was something I wanted to do. I'm looking forward to spending some time working on my weaknesses, like shooting one handed, shooting while moving, and shooting from positions other than standing straight up.
What a great time...I can't wait till next month! And I highly recommend it to anyone that enjoys shooting.
Your scores will come up. My wife was at the bottom of the scores the first few months, but now she's a marksman in SSP and at or above the middle of the SSP MM pack in scores and her shooting is nearly 100% IDPA matches.

You have entered a strange new dimension....one of hopeless addiction.....
<music off>
Congrats!!!!
Stick with it....you'll do fine!!!
And welcome to IDPA!!!
As I'm sure many will tell you, if you haven't participated in similar shooting sports previous, then your outcome was about typical. Don't worry about the scores in these first matches. Be safe and enjoy. Pay attention to drawing smoothly, maintaining your site picture as you release the shot and think about the stage your shooting. All the good shooters(not just the top dogs, but even your local shooters) are all smooth in their actions. That's how you get faster. Work on being smooth and your accuracy. BTW, have fun while you're learning(I'm sure you will).
Now, if could just practice more of those things for myself.......;)

Keep at it and you'll improve steadily.

Well, if you can get to Boaz, you can get to Arab, Hartselle, and Huntsville, maybe Sheffield and Birmingham, even Manchester, Tenn. You can shoot every Saturday, a couple Sundays, and two Tuesday nights a month in that region.
By the way, Joe D won the old folks trophy at the Alabama State. And the old cradle robber's wife won High Lady.
Congratulations, Codger.

Do you have any links to wear I can get more info on each of those? I'd like to start filling up my calendar...only once a month at Boaz isn't gonna cut it for me, I believe.:supergrin:

The Tactical Training Group site has maps to Arab, Hartselle, Steel City (Birmingham), and Sheffield ranges. Also scheduling for them, the Tuesday evening shoots at Larry's Pistol & Pawn on the North Parkway in Huntsville, and at Manchester.

I will be starting up shoots in Sheffield this Saturday morning.
(I am a fair weather sportsman and do not MD in the winter.)
Five or six stages, 60-80 rounds, 0900.
