View Full Version : HI VIZ Front Sights
I noticed the plastic front sights on my G19 appear to be wiggling out of their slot.
I went looking for a replacement front sight and saw the HI VIZ Front sights which had a plastic tube for light collection.
What are your opinions on this sight?
Thanks
I put some HIVIZ type front sights on my Ruger GP100. I like it. I have meprolight sights on my G19 but was searching just now to see if anyone was chatting about it. I like the brighter, bigger front sight better than the meps.TJ
I had them on my S&W 386 (airweight 357Mag). Hated them! I replaced them with standard sites.
They worked great outside during the day, but at the range (which always seems dimmer than it should be) they were extremely hard to pick up.

I have the HiViz on all but one of my Glocks and love them.
I call them my over 50 sights because the eyes get older the ability to focus is harder then but these sights are great.

I have the Hi Viz green fronts on both my G22 and G34. I really like them. I am using the factory adjustable rear sights on both. One thing I have done to the rears is I removed the black plastic on the inside of the verticle white lines. This opened up the sights good for my eyes. I didn't do it because of the Hi Viz, I was going to do it with the stock front sight before I got the green fronts.
I use HI-VIZ overmolded green on the front of my'27 with a Glock adj rear on the back end...EZ on these old eyes.
I use a Storm Lake 9mm bbl in it too- that's why I like the Glock Adj Rear- poi changes with the caliber.

Excellent sights!!!! I've been using them with the .90 litepipe on my G17 in IDPA competition for the last year, combined with a custom SS fiber optic rear sight, in which my shooting partner has designed and is now producing!!!! I've have also tried the new redesigned 2006 HiViz front sight!!! It is a serrated front sight similar to the Dawson Precision!!! I highly recomend HiViz front sight systems.

I have the standard adjustable Glock sight on the rear, and the Hi-Viz .90 green on the front. I use it to shoot IDPA and it is VERY bright. extreemly easy to pick up while shooting multiple targets as fast as you can.

I HAVE THEM ON THREE GUNS ,MY G26,G34.AND MY S&W 500 I LOVE THEM
Thanks everyone for your comments on the HI VIZ front sights.
I noticed most use it for competition. Do any of you use it on a carry G19? I am concerned about its durability with holster use and everyday carry?
The HI VIZ front sights we have available here are the old models.

Yes, I use the same setup, as mentioned in my reply above for everyday carry!!!! Yes, they will hold up.The old models have been discontinued!!! I talked with the sales Rep at HiViz and he said all of the old models were gone, that they had no more in stock!!!! Once distribtors sold out there all gone,so stock up if you like the sight system.
Over here they only have the old models.
The new models are not yet available.
Would the older models be just as durable and reliable?
What are the differences of the older model to the newer model?

Yes,they are probably just as reliable??? The difference is the new model has a serrations on it, and the lite pipes won't inter-change.The serrations are to prevent glare and give a clear sight pictures.I don't even think that the New models are available for sale in the US yet???? Although I have a couple of them sent to me by HiViz!!!!!

www.Lonewolf.com probably has the best prices!!!! $19.95+ s/h I called HiViz last week and inquired about the availability of the old sights. And they said that there were none left!!! That lonewolf Dist. bought all of the remaining stock.

Why would you prefer the old style over the new style? The new one appears to be much less suseptible to breakage.
Here's the new one for not much more: http://www.islandtactical.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=29763

The one that you're refering to,is the overmolded model!!!! The old ones and the New 2006 redesigned model has changeable lite pipes,.90"-.110" and .125" thousandths. The New 2006 model is less likely to break like the old ones did!!!!!
The older model HiViz sights we have available here have a metal wedge you can use to interchange the light pipes.
How do the older models break?

Is this the new model sight or the old one?

NO!!!That sight is the overmolded one!!!It was designed right after the old one that uses a plastic wedge to change the lite pipes.
