Could I mate a 2nd generation G23 frame to a G38 upper?

I really prefer the older style frames without the finger grooves. Lately, I've wanted to mate a 2nd gen. G23 frame to a G38 upper. I realize that I would have to change out some of the small parts like the ejector, etc.

I guess my question is, can the older 2nd gen. frame withstand the added pressure of the .45 GAP? Has anyone tried this?

The .45GAp is actuall less pressure, but the locking block arrangement may be different, inaddition to the different ejector.
