View Full Version : Custom Delta Elite
Well, after three months I finally got my Delta Elite back from Novak’s. I was going to have it blued when they were done but I decided to go with DuraCoat instead. We had discussed doing it with a salt and pepper look and I agreed, I thought that meant a black slide and silver/stainless frame boy was I in for a surprise I am not sure if I like it but they said if I didn’t like it I could always send it back in and they would blue it instead. I took it out to shoot it and it was very accurate to shoot, I was using the doubletapp 135gr Nosler and the gold dot 180gr hollow points. The gun didn’t have one hiccup and it was very accurate, I was easily shooting 2” groups hand held at 25 feet. All in all I really like the gun from a function/workmanship standpoint and it also points very well but I am not yet sold on the finish colors I am waiting to see if the color scheme grows on me before I decide weather or not to send it back.

Thanks. The grips are VZ micarta Operators and I had John put some new medallions in them. Other than the grips, my pistol is stock except I did go wtih a Wilson Combat one-piece FLGR and a Wolf 22# recoil spring.

I have seen 3 Novak built-up Deltas now, and man, they do good work. I'm jealous.
Very nice custom work on that Delta. :)
i love that style grip.diagnal devide between smooth and checkered.
nice gun.very impressive.i prefere plain jane personally but you have a first class piece there my friend.
my delta elite's factory blue is mirror like.almost perfect.no holster ware cast it aint never been in a holster!but untill i ware the fisish or screw it up somehow.i feel it would be a crime to refinish her.ILL REFINISH MY 38 SUPER GOV MODEL FIRST!
Thanks guys, I think the color scheme is growing on me though. SPOBER I have always preferred the blued model myself as a mater of fact my favorite delta elite that I decided at the last minute not to have modified is a blued gun similar to what you have described...

Would you mind passing on what that amount of work from Novak cost? I looked around his website and couldn't find a price list. As for the salt-and-pepper look of the finish, I really like it. Have you considered getting Delta medallions installed in the grips?
About your other Delta, is that the factory Colt blued finish? It's got a great look to it.
Hey Clarkbar, I want the medalions and I am hoping to find someone to do them for me check out these Novak links...

Thanks for the links. As I save up to have my DE customized, I have to decide what work I want done and by who.

OHHH MAN!!! That gun looks BEAUTIFUL, Roneye!! If it doesn't grow on you, I'm sure you won't have a problem getting your money back out of it.

Nice! Always good to see another Delta.... man, I love Deltas
roneye... I'll bet that Delta is a joy to shoot! Wonderful custom work. I'm a little more of a traditionalist when it comes to the finish, but that's just personal preference. Here's my one and only Delta...
