View Full Version : Ameriglo night sights JRP99 04-12-2006, 21:22 Has anyone used the Ameriglo night sights on thier Glocks? Is thier quality as good as the Meprlites or Trijicons? JRP99 sgtwunder 04-12-2006, 21:31 I just put a set of Ameriglo Smooth Slopes on my G19. They are Green/Green. Bought them new from a member here on GT. They are AWESOME! Bright. Fit well. No complaints at all. stangyg123 04-12-2006, 22:07 Ameriglo Classics come with a Trijicon front, I have a set on my G22 and they are just great. My other two Glocks have Trijicons both front and rear. BustedFlush 04-12-2006, 22:08 How is the Ameriglo installation? I understand it is supposedly easier than other sights, and does not require one of the expensive tools. Is this accurate? I have Meps on one Glock, but an armorer at at Gun Show put them on. I was considering buying the Ameriglo Operator. Any feedback appreciated. stangyg123 04-12-2006, 22:15 My Ameriglos came with a front installation tool, very helpful, and I installed the rear with a wooden dowel, vise and hammer. The wooden dowel was made of hard wood and the vise had rubber pads so I wouldn't scratch the slide. I just tapped a little at a time until it was in and then tightened up the set screw. Since then I have purchased a sight pusher and let me tell you it is a different world altogether. The sight pusher makes it so easy but it is an expensive item if you're only going to use it once. KAZ 04-12-2006, 22:45 My Ameriglos are excellent, the front was a good fit and the tool provided produced a solid lock up. The slant rear came with a hex key and has stayed in place. I used a delrin punch to knock out the rear sight. They are very bright and are easy to aquire. Add the Streamlight TLR2 for $233 shipped and the night is yours with effective gear. lastevolution 04-12-2006, 23:01 I really like my Ameriglo operators on my G19. I did the front myself, but had to go to the local gunshop to get the rear installed. Didn't have a dowel or vise handy. They actually did it free of charge. I've yet to get some red Loctite and put some on the front sight though. AFD 04-13-2006, 02:53 Originally posted by BustedFlush How is the Ameriglo installation? Very easy install, and according to the owner of Ameriglo when I purchased my green/yellow Smooth Slope sights, all the inserts were manufactured by Trijicon - only the front was actually marked by Trij, though. Rikki 04-13-2006, 07:01 I'll tell you the "problem" with Ameriglo- they make so darned many sight configurations you really need to see them all side X side to see what is gonna work best for YOUR eyes. Their website is good but it doesn't do their fine product justice. sigdeputy 04-14-2006, 09:15 I've got the Ameriglo Smooth Slope N/S's on my G26 & my G31. They are bright & crisp. In fact, I just took the new G31 out yesterday and shot it for the first time with the Ameriglo's. It was ridiculous how accurate that gun shoots! I've had Meprolight, Trijicon, PT's and Ameriglo. The only one I would stay away from are the PT's. They are just not as bright and I have had many problems with that brand. Ameriglo's are great! Dingus 04-14-2006, 13:31 I am in the process of switching all my Glock sights to Ameriglo. Check them out at www.ameriglo.com BustedFlush 04-14-2006, 16:21 Originally posted by Rikki I'll tell you the "problem" with Ameriglo- they make so darned many sight configurations you really need to see them all side X side to see what is gonna work best for YOUR eyes. Their website is good but it doesn't do their fine product justice. I agree Rikki, Ameriglo has so many choices it makes it tough to decide. After almost 50 years of perfect vision, I finally have to use reading glasses. I have also noticed that I don't pick up my front sight as quickly as I used to. The three green dot Meps which I have on one Glock don't work very well for me, especially in daylight. I'd like to find some decent night sights that will work as my best all around 24/7 combat sights. I would love to find a shop/range a good selection of sights on demo/rental/dummy guns to help me make a more educated decision. Very easy install,... AFD, Thanks for the clarification in the difference in the installations. I would also willingly buy my own sight tools if I knew what was the best choice. I have enough glocks to make this investment. Thanks to all of you for your help. Keep the advice coming! wolfy692005 04-15-2006, 06:49 never heard of these before, thanks for the web sight.. looking for some for the sig.. 32Special 04-15-2006, 12:32 I installed a set of sights yesterday that I bought from CDNN that were advertised as GLOCK brand night sights. The sales rep at CDNN claimed he didn't know who made them. However, they are clearly marked Ameriglo. These were hard to install. Front sight went in perfectly. Rear sight WOULD NOT go into a G19 dovetail using eithe a sight pusher or a brass punch and hammer. The sides of the sights are vertical instead of slanted like Glock, Mepro, and Trijicon so the sight pusher (marketed by Glockmeister IIRC) didn't fit properly. I had to file off the bottom of the sight to get it to drive in. Rear sight has a tension screw to secure it in the dovetail. Sight picture resembles Trijicon. Point of impact is about 3-4" high at 50' which is higher than my other guns with Mepros and Trijicon sights. I wouldn't recommend this particular set-up. I bought them because I couldn't find a set of Mepros anywhere. FWIW. Tommy Vercetti 04-30-2006, 01:25 Just recently installed a set of "Operators" on my HK P2000. Perfect sights for this gun. Delivery was quick and painless(no hassels/wrong merchandise). Highly recommended.  Grandfather Glock 05-05-2006, 12:57 Originally posted by 32Special These were hard to install. 1+ My Operators were VERY tight. However, that's better than too loose. I like that they are without set screws--set screws do not belong on weapons. Alphaman 05-09-2006, 03:41 Love my Ameriglo Operators! SDGlock23 05-11-2006, 07:35 I have Ameriglo Operators and I really like them. rwmagnus 05-11-2006, 23:58 Anybody using Ameriglow Classic Style Night Sights? Most everyone has posted about their Operators or Smooth Slope styles. I'm leaning towards this manufacturer due to all the positive press. Need to set up a G23 and G27 for carry and want them to be the same. TIA Alphaman 05-12-2006, 00:16 Originally posted by rwmagnus Anybody using Ameriglow Classic Style Night Sights? They're great standard sights, but if you're buying new sights the Operators are much better. If I were buying standard sights, personally I'd buy the Trijicon. The Ameriglo Operators are great because they don't have the outline on the rear sights and most of all you get a really good sight picture with these sights compared to the standard night sights. LifeSpeed 05-16-2006, 15:13 they r good... mfetty 05-17-2006, 12:54 I had a set of Classic 3 dot put on my 19 bout a month ago. The guy at the gun shop also had to file down the rear sight to get it to go in. The rear sight will not stay tight either. Every few rounds you have to tighten it back up. Maybe I got a bad sight not sure. rwmagnus 05-17-2006, 14:27 Originally posted by mfetty I had a set of Classic 3 dot put on my 19 bout a month ago. Maybe I got a bad sight not sure. I'm going with the Operators pretty much the same price, just waiting for the vendo to get the Galco UDC holster back in stock and I'll order everything together. As for your sight not staying put, I bet too much metal was taken off. I had to file a Dawson adjustable rear to get it to fit, but you have to go real easy. The fix? Try some JB Weld to see it a thin layer will stay on the sight. Let the stuff set up and shape it with a file. Or someone with a mig welder to put a couple tack welds on the sight then shape it with a file to a snug fit, no more loose sight!;) mfetty 05-18-2006, 00:25 Thanks Rwmagnus but I won't have to do that. Called them today and they said to get the rear sight off and send it back to them. Then they send me a new one. Nice to see a company stand behind there products. rwmagnus 05-18-2006, 00:40 Originally posted by mfetty Thanks Rwmagnus but I won't have to do that. That's the best plan but it was way to simple to think of  . Not only is it nice to see a company stand behind their product it's more of a reason to buy from them! Glad it worked out for you. mfetty 05-18-2006, 10:15 Quote: Posted by Rwmagnus, That's the best plan but it was way to simple to think of .
