View Full Version : TacShotgun sight
Can't seem to turn up a red dot or similar sight for a tac shotgun. I'm putting together my next gun and going shotgun. What suggestions can ya'll give me? I have looked at Mossberg 500 w/ 18" barrel and Remington 870 I think. These seem to be in my price range and I want some kinda red dot or optic to compensate for vision not what it used to be. I Looked at the J something or other but I don't understand how it works. I used a red dot on a target pistol the other day and I liked it.
What ever help appreciated

You might want to look at the LaserMax LMS-1202. It works with Remington shotguns, including the 870. You need at least an 18 inch barrel and a two round magazine tube extender. The unit is a sight and light combo that can be touch activated with a pad that installs with a pressure sensative adhesive to the fore end. When you squeeze, an LED tactical light of 60 lumens comes on as does a red laser dot that you zero for point of impact. The power comes from CR-123 Lithium batteries that can store for a long time without any problems. There's even a low battery indicator light. Right now, there's even a $100.00 rebate program where if you go to the website (www.lasermax.com)you can print a coupon. I hope the Remington 870 is your choice though, as there isn't a 1202 for the Mossberg.
Hope that helps,

Not knocking lasermax, but I wouldn't use a tube mag extension on ANY HD shotgun. I just don't trust em.
I say go with a very high visibility front bead and you should be good enough.
Or, go Moss500 and put on a heat shield with integral combat sights.
I've never been a huge fan of optics on shotguns....maybe with the exception of a holosight.
