It is. Corrosive that is. nognig 04-16-2006, 08:16 Originally posted by jack19512 My Mausers like the Yugoslavian 70's production ammo real well. http://www.aimsurplus.com/acatalog/copy_of_8mm.html I have to agree with jack. I bought a case of this ammo and it's really nice. Brass case, nice and consistant. I was able to get less than 1.5" groups at 50 yards with this ammo. NN LonghornGlock 04-16-2006, 12:37 If you have a C&R license you can get 50's Yugo from Century. 600rds for less than most pay for a regular meal at Applebee's.;) kalashnikovluvr 04-16-2006, 13:56 Thank you all, I guess i'm going to get some yugo ammo for my new mauser. sharpshooter 04-18-2006, 02:56 The Romanian spam pack is good stuff. Looks like new, shoots good too. It's corrosive of course. I have a couple of cans saved up for a rainy day. The Yugoslavian ammo from the '70s is excellent, as is the Romanian. 1811guy2 05-02-2006, 08:45 Stay away from the Turkish stuff. The extra low price is tempting, but it is really inferior. The Yugo ammo is great. Even better if you can find it on those nice stripper clips. kf4zra 05-02-2006, 19:48 anyone tried any 8mm in a 1919a4? im getting one next month, and would like some input. i have shot the turk thru a FA 1919, the ROF goes up and down, then it stops cause you get a dud round. im saving the turk for my bolt guns. im thinking about going with more yugo cause there is no lacquer on it, even tho the lacquer coated steel case stuff worked beautifully in my FN-49 and Hakim. the reason im thinking this is cause i figure the chamber will get a bit hotter when i shoot a 100rd belt thru the 1919, vs a 25 rd mag in the hakim. i know that the lacquered stuff has a tendency to stick in my mosins, and SVT-40 wonderwolf 05-03-2006, 22:19 Even the cheap stuff is good for bolt guns I got 1000 rounds for under $100 and it shoots nicly out to 300 yards in my bolt gun I use to just "plink" after I shoot I brush and poor mil surp bore cleaner down it after the breach is pluged and let it sit for a while. The steel stuff makes a very nice spark when it hits a steel target but only if the conditions are right and its not really bright out. Not sure what Turkish you were shooting, but I've got a ton of Turkish from 1944 in bandoliers that is excellent. 1811guy2 05-06-2006, 19:27 Everything I have shot has been way overpowered. I have had stress marks, ruptured brass, and rounds seizing up in the chamber. Other milsurp collectors I shoot with have experienced the same thing. If its that hot and your action locks up somthing might be wrong with the action itself, when I shoot my turk, yugo and romanian ammo it usually takes 1 or 2 minutes of solid rapid fire to get a action to start to "stick" on opening (thats why I like the straight bolts they give you a little leverage) as far as case failures go I have never had a problem with all of mine. Head space could be off if your getting consistant case failure though. billwade 05-16-2006, 19:43 I have Turkish ammo that shoots 1.5" groups at 100 yrds from my Chech M98. vBulletin® v3.7.3, Copyright ©2000-2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd. | ![]() |
