For you Bull Dawgs that have shot/owned other glocks how do they compare feel wise? Like how does the G37 compare to the 17/22 handgun.
I have a G22 that I like a lot. I am not CCWing, its a range HD gun only. But I keep thinkng I need a G37(in addition to or in place of I haven't decided). I just like the whole GAP concept now. When I was looking at models I brushed past the .45 ACP Glocks for size of frame. And wrote of the GAP as experimental (I have since done more research).
I have a friend (way out of town, to far to borrow his 37) who got one for X-mas and loves it. But as I went to the local shops it wan't in stock. One fellow said he could have one in a day or two if I was serious about buying it but wouldn't get one if I was just browsing. He then tried to get me interested in an XD-45 ACP. It was a nice gun, but the Glock is a better hand fit for me. So then he went on about how hard it was to find GAP ammo, and how he could get it but charged more.
So I guess I really want one, but want some positive input on it for a change. I figured this was the place!

El,
I'm a long time .45 cal fan. I've had my G38 for only a few weeks but I am very impressed with it. Have you been to this site www.45gap.com? Lots of info there on this subject. There are a some people who feel that this cartridge will never really catch on and they may be correct only time will tell. You get 45ACP performance with a shorter cartridge length and in a smaller framed gun. I like to feel that Glock has created a winner but then again my opinion and
a $1.70 will get you a cup of Starbucks coffee also. Good luck..

Hey pds,
That site was great. I liked that it gave space to opposing viewpoints. Seemed fair, and packed with technical info.
I think the 38 and 39 will help keep the round alive more than the 37. With Springfield proving you can have a higher capacity ACP with a smaller frame, its the compact and sub markets that will make or break the standard. So while they aren't the guns I am looking for I am glad you like yours, feel free to talk it up!

PS- I NEVER get outa Starbucks that cheap...
Go for it. Get yourself a GAP. I don't think you'll reget it.
That was for a 'tall' regular coffee by the way, not one of those fu-fu expresso drinks (that what my wife calls them).

GAP guns compared to 17/22, I don't presonally know. What I do know however is that I LOVE my G-37. I don't have any trouble finding ammo for a decent price (almost the same as the ACP around here)I would suggest that you get to a range and find out first hand for yourself. People may have their opinion but only yours matters when buying a gun. If you like it, buy one...if not pass. As far as if the cartridge will catch on or not only time will tell...10mm & .357 Sig may be coming around...
Good luck and stay safe.

As to "feel", the G37 grip is of course identical to the G17. The G37 weighs a bit more but the added weight seems to feel good in my hand--it balances well. Recoil will (generally) be greater with the G37 but it isn't an obnoxious snappy/slappy recoil such as one experiences with a G22. The G37 comes back on target quickly--perhaps quicker than a G17. The G37 also puts satisfyingly BIG holes in the target!
I prefer shooting a G37 to shooting a G17 (and I like the G17).

Wll guys, I asked for psoitive and you delivered!
Gary, you especially had the info I was looking for. I fit the 17/22 grip perfectly. And while I do fine with the 22 recoil I am interested in comparing it for that snappiness people always talk about. I think I tracked down a G37 to try out this weekend. I am also gonna visit/call several local stores and gunshops to check out ammo availability (I like to be able to get some same-day in a pinch).
Now the only question, assuming I like the gun as well as I think I might, is will theis be a sister for my G22 or replacement LoL.
Thanks again,
El
I have both the G22 and G37. Both are great pistols. I prefer shooting the G37. The recoil is more of a push rather than sharp up wards snap. frames are the same. The 37 is a little more top heavy but I like the way it balances. Get the 37 and enjoy yourself.

Put about a half dozen mags thru a 37 this weekend and it performed like a dream. I now understand the "snappy" difference compared to the "push". Neither recoil was bothersome to me tho.
So I'm probably picking one up this week.

You won't regret the 37. Its simply a great pistol...that is if you can handle all the discrimination of it... "its ok my little baby, they don't mean it" I tell her with gentle strokes. Sometimes "little Betty" needs to be reminded that there is still a need for her existance. (sorry...just been one of those days) :uglylol:

No problemo.
As long as "Little Betty" is your handgun...
Sorry man, it's a crappy Monday here as well. Work and rain on top of Monday...
Anyway, I am not worried about discrimination. My other is a G22. I am used to people telling me there are better choices I coulda made. I am gonna have to find a 9 mm or .45 ACP someday so that I have at least one of the "cool" models. Of course it will probably still be Glock.
