Now that is funny...lol

Signs carry very little weight in Indiana, so apparently some official looking Ohio sign is supposed to scare us?

:rollsmiley: :rollsmiley: :laughabove: :laughabove:

I'm gonna drive over to one of their other locations see if they are also posted....

OK, its hot out, I decided a Blizzard sounded good...

Instead of going to the closest DQ, I went to one a bit farther away, which is not far from the Revol on Washington and Sherman.

Same foolish sign..lol. I wish they'd have been open, I'd have went in and had a word with the mgr.

I don't open carry but, would do so just because whoever posted a sign like that, in an Indiana store, has to be so stupid as to be deserving of a little shake up in their day.

It seems to be a corporate thing, because they're in more than one store. The mindless drones working there posted them because corporate headquarters sent them and told them. I doubt most of the poor bastards working there care one way or the other about it.

That being said...

I think we should give 'em Hell!

I'll do it.

Especially if IPDBrad goes with us (off duty, of course).

And we should probably have KSFreeman with us ... just in case we need a Brit to use as a throw-down, or somethin'.

Seriously ... I'm up for it.

crap, I don't own any OWB holsters.

I guess I can just tuck my shirt in behind it and carry the G21. That should be pretty noticable.

or we can just let them know this way

nah that ain't as much fun.

I see they have one on North Sherman also(these things sprang up everywhere).. I've got a Doc's appt. downtown today, I might swing by there. My guess is, we're going to find all the stores posted in this manner. I fired off an email to them this morning.

BTW, Sherman I believe is 3800 to be exact, Post Road is 9000, Mitthoeffer 10000, Emerson 5000, Arlington 6000, Shadeland 7000.

Thats the response I got to a question about why a sign that quotes Ohio law, is posted in Indiana stores.

What does "Revol" sell?

I've never heard of them before..

My email to customercare@revol.us

RE: The no firearms sign in your store at 5335 Southport Road Indianapolis, IN.

This is Indiana, not Ohio. Quoting Ohio law as a reason to ban legally licensed Hoosiers from entering your place of business is reason enough for me to boycott your stores.

I will encourage all my friends to boycott your stores also. Sorry about your business failure in Indiana.

Cellular service. By the way it looks they only have one service plan and limited coverage.

Okay ... here is what I propose.

1. We do this in a group, and on a weekday afternoon (if possible), or maybe early evening.
2. We take our "no guns; no $$$" cards with us. I can make some
for anyone who needs them.
3. We visit as many locations as we can.

Tuesdays and Wednesdays are best for me, followed by Fridays.

Might be interesting but:

1. The person at the store probably only makes $5/hr and doesn't give a care.

2. There are so many non-gun people buying cell phones it probably would not scare them.

3. The parent company/owner is probably some pre-must-issue Ohio liberal.

Still worth a try. :)

Well.... No sign at 9501 E. Washington. That begs the question. Are they putting signs at the stores in the not so good neighborhoods? Maybe we are looking at discrimination? Hmmmmm......

You know, thats a really good point. I was out by the 9500 E store the same day you were, and had noticed the sign wasn't there. I may try to swing by the one on N Sherman(A certifiable crappy neighborhood) and see if a sign is up there. The only thing that would make me doubt what you said, is Southport and Emerson, where the Southport Rd store is, is hardly a bad area...

Strange.

Possible, but I was near Sherman and Washington last night, and swung through, and their sign was still there....

We'll see.

EDIT: Went to the 25th and Sherman store today(4/22), it is posted. Interesting, almost makes me wonder if Emmelman is right.

So ... are bagging the visits to the stores that have the signs (with our open carry and no guns; no $ cards)?

Hoosierinos, I saw a thrift store in Kentucky some time back, that was posted with Ohio "No Guns" signs too. Took me a while, but finally tracked down the nincompoop who owns the little chain, and cornered him about this in front of some of his underlings. If any of them had respect for their boss up to that point, it was gone by the time he couldn't take any more of my verbal heckling and blew up.

Best part was right after that, when I suggested that he maybe needed some anger management training, he was setting such a poor example for his employees. Then I turned to one of the flunkies and said: "Or, is he always like this?"

Have some fun with this revol outfit, maybe you can get someone from their corporate level to lose it and take a swing at one of you.

FWIW, you can add the Revol in Avon to the list of stores that have the sign. This store is on Hwy. 36 in the small strip mall that is across the street from the large strip mall where Target and Barnes & Noble are.

So, what's the next step?
Bring this to some legislature/council type folks? Would they not think that it is usurping their (our) laws?

The sign is incorrect but I doubt that posting it violates state law. Also, while I so not like to see business attempt to ban my lawful carrying of weapons and I will not knowingly patronize such a business, a store owner/manager does have the right to ask anyone to leave whether it is because the person is carrying a weapon or because the person has a portable stero with the volume turned up very high or beacuse the person is handing out political pamphlets, etc.

The bottom line is that if the store owner/manager asks someone to leave because the person has a firearm (or for any other reason) and the person refuses, the store owner/manaer will call the poice and the police will make the unwanted person leave.

For better or for worse, the little piece of laminated paper in my wallet which bears the title "License to Carry Handgun/State of Indiana", does not give me the right to carry a handgun when the owner/manager of the store I am in tells me to leave the weapon outside or leave the premises.

Frankly, I think they're just guilty of being stupid and their signs got beamed down to the wrong store locations, or someone at corporate doesn't realize that home-office location law doesn't apply across the country. My PA non-res permit carries more weight than their sign, I will continue to happily visit Indiana (one of my favorite states) and avoid such places.

Again, guilty of being stupid. But advising their home office may allow the opportunity to correct their mistake, properly educate their staff, and avoid some minimum-wage clerk from escalating a situation that doesn't need to be. If they don't take advantage of that opportunity, it's on them and it seems to me that the 3-strikes rule applies to being felony-stupid.

:patriot:

Edit: Sent their "customer care" email address a civilly-worded rocket on the matter as well.

WIG19,

I absolutely agree that the bozo sign has absolutely no bearing on the owner/manager's ability to ask an armed person to leave. I did not intend my post to imply that the sign was relevant in this manner.

Cheers.

In the early (5:30 am) drive into work today, I noticed something kind of ironic.

Albro Gun's previous location on Emerson in front of Wal-Mart, is now inhabited by REVOL (Cell phone company).

Kind of ironic that an ANTI-GUN business is the next to fill the location of a GUN SHOP. And the gun shop is on its last legs, too.

sad
