View Full Version : N.O.A.A Weather Radios
I hope you guys can help, as I know Hams are often on the front line of weather spotting and info. What is your favorite portable weather radio? Pros and cons to various brands - I'm looking for one that is hand held, with AC and battery capability, and S.A.M.E. technology. Right now I am considering two from Oregon Scientific (WR 103 & WR 108) and would appreciate some user feedback on any units. Thanks!

Oregon Scientific seems to be the leader in all hazard radios. The only thing I have noticed (and this applies to all consumer radios) is that you can not select what alerts you want to monitor. Seems like only the area is selectable.

Ditto on the Oregon Scientific radio.
Whatever you do...DO NOT BUY THIS ONE!!!

It's junk which is unfortunate because Midland's home models are excellent.
The Oregon Scientific models allow you a "window" in which to change out the batteries before the radio's setting reset to default. The Midland doesn't have that feature and the controls are extremely difficult to operate.
