I recently received a pair of Peltor Tactical Pro Muffs. My problem is how do I know if they are turned on or off?
Also I guess they were on and the muffs appear to be warm. Is that normal?
I kept puching the on/off button and the volumn plus to see if I could hear any difference with on or off.
Any assistance is appreciated.
I have to ask...Do they have the batteries installed?
They do not sound like they are working.
You should be able to put on the muffs, with the power off and not hear anything. Turn them on and you should hear the house fan running, birds singing, people talking etc. It is a difference of night and day, so if you can't tell then something is wrong.

I have trouble knowing if my Peltors (Tac 6-S) are "on" or not too (see the other topic). I can hear better without them on than I can with them either with the speakers on or off. The level of sound amplification is nearly non-existent. The only way I can tell if they are on or off is by rotating the switches until they click "off."
If the TacPros are similar, then the problem is understandable.
That's why I got a pair of Radians Pro-Amps. They work much, much, MUCH better.

Thanks for the replies. I finally got them to work at home. I will have to see how they perform on the range.
My problem was with the instructions. IMHO they do not provide detailed instructions as to how the on/off control works and how you tell if they are on or not. The instructions do not state how many clicks up or down for max/min volume.
Having written many instructions for the operation of electronic equipment I know it is not an easy task.
Also if it is such a big deal that you do not install the batteries while the unit is on there should be an indicator, of some sort, that lets you know whether they are on or off.
Meanwhile I'll use them but look into the Radians.
