View Full Version : Recommend an AR case
Looking for a soft case to take my AR to the range in. I like the ones that have magazine pouches built into the sides. The few I have seen out there are real pricey though.
Anyone want to recommend a good case you found, what it cost and where you found it (online preferably)?
Thanks!
I can't remember who posted, but there was a nice fabric one posted a couple months ago for about 40 bones. If I can find it, I will link it. I will buy a couple too.
On the other hand, I have a $20 case with a couple side pockets. Can't remember where I got it, but if I find it, I will let you know.
I would be interested in that as well. :)

Go to http://www.sarcoinc.com/tactical-cases.html (http://www.sarcoinc.com)
They have a few left at $19.95.
You can try JG Sales they usually have some inexpensive soft cases with pockets.
Brownell's have some interesting cases. Check them out at http://www.brownells.com/

I just bought this Tac-Force Case (http://www.islandtactical.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=29990) from Island Tactical. It is very well made for the money, although I'm not sure I would consider it a range case. More of a "discreet" type case. Comes with a 3 mag mouch and I bought an extra pouch to put in it so it now holds six mags.
Cheaperthandirt has some decent range (throw around)cases made by Leapers.

In hard cases, there's Pelican, and everything else.
In soft cases, there's the Waller Soft Safe (floats, FBI approved for long gun carry and can be used for airline travel), and everything else. :)
You get what you pay for.
Eagle makes a couple good ones for the price.

+1 on Eagle Industries. Nearly indestructible. Also has dense closed cell foam padding for extra protection.

For the $19.95 I spent for the UTG Tactical Rifle Cases from SARCO, Inc., I am very pleased with the construction of the cases. In fact, so much that I just bought another one for my PTR-91. In my opinion, if all you are going to use it for is toting your AR to the range, $19.95 is all you really need to pay. That is my opinion. You could pay more, but why?

Bought one of these guitar cases last year. It's worked well so far and it doesn't scream "GUN!" to my nieghbors when I'm loading it into my truck. It'll hold most AR's (16in to 24in) and hold an M1A scout. The extra mags fit inside the various pockets in the lower bag. Seems the price has increased another $10 since I got mine, but still is a good deal for a nice "subtle" range bag.

What are the interior measurments? I picked-up a tennis racquet cover/case that is just the right size for my Kel-Tec SU-16C but am looking for something more substantial.
When I was looking for a soft case another member recommended one of these:

Great value for the money but it looks like the smaller sizes are sold out.

The case maybe a little big for a folded up Kel-Tec. It's 41 inches inside, and 15in tapering to 7in. In my previous post I listed the Brown case, which is built for a bass. The Red case is smaller, for a guitar sized instrument. I can't find the red case for sale on-line, but it is still listed on the Ibanez website. http://www.ibanez.com/accessories/spec.asp?m=99
Isn't there a rifle case that when unzipped can be laid flat so the shooter can use it as a mat?

Tac Force is the way to go, excellent quality without being overpriced like the big names.
