View Full Version : My new PX4
The FFL called today so I went and picked it up. It is a .40. Came with 3 mags and 3 back straps. I ordered the G conversion kit for it also.

Excellent choice. You did good by ordering the G levers for it.It's real simple swap out and the low profile levers get rid of the "bat-wing" levers that come stock.

What is the "G conversion?" Where would you get one?

You can find it here

PX-LP1 PX4 "Stealth" low profile safety and slide catch.
With type F you rack the slide, push down on the safety to de-cock it then you would have to push up on the safety again to engage the trigger. From there it was first shot DA and everything else is SA. With the G safety, you just push down on the safety to de-cock and the trigger is in DA mode and ready to go.

Please let us know how it shoots! Kind of a compare and contrast with other guns you own.
What is the "street" price on one of these? Very interesting new pistol.

It shoots great. It feels like a 1911 so it is real easy to aim. I also like 14 rounds a magazine. You can feel the quality of the gun. It really gets your attention when you hold it.
How large is the PX4's grip, or what other pistols does it compare to size-wise?
I'm considering it along with a Glock 19 and Sig Pro 2022 but wonder if the grip is too large. My idea of 'too large' is a Ruger P90, which is kinda bulky/blocky.

To be honest I never intended this as a conceal carry gun. I always knew this would be an OWB open carry gun. On my property or hunting. My opinion is it is to big for conceal carry but that's just me. I like smaller framed guns for conceal carry.

I don't want it for CCW - I already have a CCW. Just asking how large is the grip. Is it a pistol that favors large hands?
The grip has different sized back straps, so it varies. By and large it is smaller than the Glocks. To me it feels really nice in the hand and points very naturally. I LIKE IT!
Went and checked out the PX4 today - I like it. It was the F model for $499.
Just trying to decide now between the Sig Pro, Glock 19 and PX4...
The slim (aka, stealth) control levers make a big difference, at least for me. I don't like slide-mounted controls much, mainly because they tend to protrude. The slim controls cured this. Here are photos:

$499 is a good price.
I have Sig's, Glock's, HK's, S&W's, Kahr's, Beretta and a slew of other guns but the one I go for the most is the PX4. It's my primary carry piece and is used now for IDPA and soon to be used in 3 gun now that I have a CX4 to match it.
I can't say the PX4 is better than all of my other guns because I think they are all top of the heap, but I've got no complaints about it and it's a dream to shoot.
With the medium grip it feels better in my hand than the G19, and with the small grip on it (the one I use) it fits as good or better than anything I own.
I have large meaty hands with shorter fingers, ymmv.
