Hi guys. My father gave me this rifle the other day. He has had it in his possesion for about 8-10 years i think. He bought it (along with a bunch of other guns) for cheap. I was visiting him and taking pictures of it because i never knew what type of rifle it was or even the caliber because there were no markings (that i could see) to identify it. I intended to post the pictures on GT to see if anyone would know.

As i was playing with the rifle my father told me "i could make a gift of that to you" and when i asked "what?" he asked me if i wanted it. After making sure he was really sure he wanted to give it to me, i said thank you and he told me he had some ammo for it and he gave me a 20 rd. box of 6.5x55 bullets. I went to yahoo and typed 6.5x55 and it came up with lots of info and i found out that this cartridge size that ive never heard of before is actually pretty popular. Also turns out that i *THINK* i may have some sort of Swedish Mauser. This is a little different though, because all of the pictures i have seen of a Swedish Mauser show them as longer than mine. Ive only found 1 other pic on the net of a (supposedly) Swedish Mauser that looked like the one i own, but he gave no description of it.

So, i took a bunch of pictures of the rifle and im going to attach them.

Sorry i dont have a photo hosting site. Here is a full length shot of my rifle.

Here is a picture of the bolt, but notice that it is not round like most (or all?) bolt action rifles. it looks as though the original maybe broke or someone changed it out. You can see where the flat piece was welded on. But it functions well. I actually kind of like it.

so let me know what you think :)

I really like it so far (have not shot it yet). Holds five rounds, has a very nice finish that looks like hematite (bluing, or something else??).

Any and all info on the weapon is greatly appreciated. I also have more pics and can take more if needed. Just let me know.

the rear of the bolt is definatlly swede, see the crown stamping? its their rearsenal mark. i really dont recognize anything else though, the bolt handle is funky as is the safetty and sights.....

the buttstock suspiciously looks swede but the forend has been cut off. i have a stinking suspicion that BUBBA got ahold of this one, where'd you get it?

like i said, my father gave it to me, he bought it from someone years back, though i dont know who.

The rear of the butt-stock looks like all the other pictures of swede's ive seen, but its hard to see in those pics. I have a good close-up of it, but im not on my computer right now, so ill have to post it later.

If the forend has been cut off, then whoever did it knew what they were doing because it looks stock. Thats why i made this thread, cuz all the other pics ive seen look nothing like this rifle.

Looks like a bubba'd Swede to me. Don't get the bolt handle deal , but it must have been done to work better with the site setup.

yeah i found some faint markings on the rifle, and it has 1904, and i could make out about four letters: EV and AK. So from what i have looked up it looks like an m/98.

You are right about the rifle being bubba'd. The stock looks normal from what ive seen (not cut). But the bolt handle is definately modified and the side of the stock cut out a little for the new handle to sit right when the bolt is fully closed.

Definately not original, but i actually kind of like it.
