View Full Version : delta elite very difficult to rack the slide.
of all my 1911s my DE is really difficult for me to rack the slide.I guess it due to its high stiffness needed for proper slide operation.I can work it at the range but i have to palm the entire slide.my indesx and thumb just wont get it.my wife cant even attept racking this slide.its one reason its in the safe and not serving bedside duty.my glock 31 s slide is super slick!my detective special is even better(bedside duty imho has to be a pistol you can just pick up.no figuring stuff out or difficulty in bring gun into battery etc....)

Does it get any easier when you swap the recoil spring out for a lighter one (one out of your other 1911)? If not, then either you have a heavy mainspring and/or you have an EGW firing pin stop. If you are not familiar with the EGW FP stop, a quick google search will explain it.
Arguably, there is no real reason for a 1911 chambered in 10mm to be much harder to cycle than any other 1911. The EGW or a heavy mainspring will delay the movement of the slide some, giving the gun more time to spit out the bullet, but a extra heavy recoil spring just beats the gun up when it slings the slide back into battery.
