Mamba sling quickie review..

Well, I purchased a Mamba Sling on Friday at a gunshow for $15.. yup, $15.. it is for A2 stocks..

So far, I like it. It's a great KISS 3 point sling. I've used it a good bit the last couple days, and carried the rifle about 2 miles with it. Rifle is a 20" HBAR, so it wieghs about 9 pounds loaded. Was noticeable, but not uncomfortable(for me). I know a couple miles is very little.. but I plan to test this thing more extensivly in that regard sometime in the future..

Shooting with it was just as I expected, nothing really interesting there..

I think perhaps that there are better options, but I havn't tried them. Going to try to break this one first before another one :supergrin:

On a side note..

Anyone else notice the OAL of a 20" rifle is about the same as the OAL on an 18" fully stocked pump shotgun? Food for thought..

I think it is the ungodly LOP in the A2 stock that reminds me of my shotty.

My 870 Scattergun has a killer LOP on its SF stock. I have a really hard time with the 3-point on the pump (call me Mr. Short stroker) andd need to both switch to a single point and a shorter stock. IT's a beast one-handed.

I am building a 20" AR and figure that I am better with a 3-point than a single point with the long barrel however. I think the problem on the shotty is that it is so front heavy versus the AR. I guess I can't image a single point on the A2 AR, but am welcome to hearing other thoughts...

I had an adapter for a single point(HK hooks) and used a Troy single point on it..

Didn't really like it.. with a longer rifle, it really bangs around a lot, the 3 point keeps it close in to your body.

You are right about the LOP on the A2 stock, it is pretty long. Not as bad as my factory Winchester's stock, but still out there.

I have a mamba on my CAR-15. I like 3-pt for carbines.

I would have probably went with a standard military 2-pt sling on a 20" rifle, and a single pt. on an SBR, but the real test is how you perform with the sling. I've never used a 3-pt on a full-sized rifle, so I don't really know if it provides any benefits.

Diddo. I have have a two-point on my 20" and have 3-points on all my carbines. I would recommend putting a side-sling swivel on that 20" rifle, as the Mamba was designed to attach to the left side of the rifle (not the bottom.) At least it works better this way.

Here's my CMMG MOD4 with the Mamba, using a side-sling swivel.
