I'm trying to set my WASR up for a post hurricane Andrew/Katrina scenerio. I'm looking at red dot sights and mounting. There's a lot of stuff out there but I'd like a reliable/serviceable set up at a reasonable cost. Does anyone have experiences with:
Ultimak mount with Aimpoint/EO Tech/Burris Extreme sights?
How about Kobra or PK sights on side mount?
I'd like it low mounted so I can use a good cheek weld (without buying a cheekpad)
Any other suggestions?
Thanks
Kobra is great. Built like a tank, costs less than EOTech. I currently have a 4x24POSP, but am saving up for Kobra.

I'd like to get a PK-A or PK-AV red dot sight. I do not have one but have heard good things about them. I personaly like the way they look.

I have a PK-AS-V set up on my WASR and love it. That is a great set up--allowing for close in reflex shooting as well as a surprising amount of long range precision. A very good sight for getting the most out of your AK. Another benefit it would have in a post-natural disaster situation is that it doesn't require batteries to work. It still shows up as a black reticle without being on. Alas, in the "V" mount centered over the bore it does sit high enough that you can't get a good checkweld with it. I haven't found that to be a huge problem and it would be easy enough to fix if you didn't have a folding stock like me.
