I thought that the Airborne and SOCOM Soldiers, Navy, Airman and Marine Special Operations people needed a place! Since the Army runs SOCOM I placed it here!

So sound off!

Special Forces Mos 18C here!

My scare badges:

Combat Infantry Badge ('51 Korea)
Master Parachute badge
Pathfinder Badge
SCUBA Badge
Glider Badge (Japan 1947)
Ranger Tab: (Korean War Ranger Era)
Special Forces Tab (12th SFG(A)
Canadian Parachute Badge (Red Maple leaf)

Check out this website for a Miitary Parachute jump: (Caution might need high speed connection and watch the sound lot of wind noise)

Not Socom but was on jump status for eight years. Last assignment was in the 82nd Airborne. That vid kicks ass! Guy had the camera on his ruck.

Hmmm... It's to bad they (PS2) don't use live ammo when they shoot back. Maybe you wouldn't due so well and we wouldn't be exposed to your wierd sense of humor, or whatever led you to post in a tread set up for Airborne & SOCOM people.

Definately not SOCOM. Just a fat ass Arty guy.

Currently stationed at Bragg for the 3rd time. Did a tour in Vicenza as well. On my way to Ft Polk for a cheesey Airborne assignment---OC duty.

Airborne qualified in 1986. On Airborne status from 1988 to 1992, 2/505 PIR 82d Airborne Division, Ft. Bragg, NC. Ranger qualified class 13-88, from 11 August 1988 to 11 October 1988. The best and worst two months of my life.

When I was in the Army (from 1985 to 1992), it was my understanding that when you got your "V" identifier your file automatically went to SOCOM. I could be wrong on that.

So I suppose it all depends upon your definition of SOCOM, but I was definitely Airborne All The Way!

OC duty huh? Don't know how happy I would be about that. But if you get to be on status then thats a plus.

Yeah, I'm not too happy about doing a TDA assignment again. Especially since I had a good job lined up in my old unit in Division. Fricken FA branch put me on assignment while I was still in Iraq. I just got off recruiting duty a couple of years ago. My branch manager gave me 3 choices (AC/RC at Drum, JRTC OC, or Drill Sergeant). I'm thinking I made the right choice. I here they do some nice chill jumps down there, so I'll probably be happy.

I hope you get to jump at Camp Swampy, I was an OC at NTC and never got to jump....but, I am sure it is a different mission and a different sort/type of training. Good luck.

PS...I was at Bragg in the mid 90's....life was good then, now I am stuck doing AC/RC....ain't too bad though....I got a few more years to go and will probably hang it up at the 20 yr mark. Time to move on with my life....

Let see, Jan/Feb of 04. Was with the unit for a little bit before I went. Initially I was with the "Lords of Darkness" if you remember them. They are not around anymore(wink, wink, nudge, nudge)

SFC Thompson was my primary along with a few that are no longer with us. Hated it and loved it at the same time. I will never forget being the demo for the knee strike. LOL
