Have any of you G21/20L 6" owners looked at the possibility of 460 Rowland and/or 45 Super Express in your custom cannons? That impressive top-end mass should go a long way to taming these hot rounds. Sure would make quite a woods protection holster piece with almost 14,000 ft/lbs of energy available. G21s need to be ported for the Super and 1911s need a comp for the Rowland, both to control slide velocity. That 6" top end might not need either. Just thinking out loud.

Plenty of people shoot .45 Super through their 4.6" G21 with just a stronger spring, so it should be even easier with the G21L. I don't know about the .460 Rowland, though, that sounds like a lot of pressure, even for a longslide. Maybe with the longslide and a compensator...

I was referring to its capacity of 13+1 rounds at about 1000 ft/lbs each. Sorry for the confusion. The ballistics are more like 1350 fps for a 230 gr bullet. Sounds like fun to me!

I would LOVE to see an aftermarket longslide that was specifically designed to be as heavy as reasonable. No metal removed anywhere it didn;t need to be, say for example more metal ont he inside of the sldie walls, leaving just enough room to not interfere with the free movement of the barrell.
All of this, specifically for the purpose of shooting the .460 Rowland witout a comp or brake off of a G21 frame.
Even if it had to have a tungsten insert or say for example a tungsten slideplate cover on the rear.

TED,
That would be very cool, indeed! Doesn't appear to be much interest in the 460, however. I'll try to put together a 1911 with the comped kit when $ allow. I'm definitely interested in trying it out.

I am more than half way there. I got a SA 1911-A1 today (my first 1911) with the plan to convert it to 460 rowland.
I already have a G21 with a 6" KKM barrel and a Wolff uncaptured guiderod and 24# spring and shoot my own hand loaded .45super. I have a 230gr. bullet going 1200fps out of that setup. This 460 Rowland stuff has me excited and I can't wait to try it out.
I may end up having to sell a Remington 1100 Competiton Master shotgun to do so if I cannot find anything else laying around to sell, but I am in a .45acp wildcat mode right now and loving it.

Thats sounds really cool. I have a Kimber Custom II .45 Super (converted by Ace Custom, inventor of the .45 Super) and its a real handful when shooting Super loads. I also have a G20L and would love to try some Super loads once I get a 6" .45 barrel.
I'd be interested to hear more about the velocities you get from you handloaded Super rounds (ie velocity, pressure, max or min loadings, bullet style, etc)

I'd love to see a Springfield Operator(full rail) setup for the super or Rowland. It just has that big beefy, square jawed look to it that makes you think it could handle it with no problem.
