I have a Remington 870M with a 18" barrel. The front sight is a bead that sits on a pedalstal. Will this sight unscrew from the pedalstal? I have a meprolight tritium front sight that I would like to install on my gun, but I do not want to try and un-screw the original sight and break it. Anyone that has experience with this your help is needed. Thanks.

I installed a XS front sight that epoxied over the bead and didn't have to worry about that.I did wonder about it though.I looked at others that threaded in.I would think that they're prolly lock-tited in and would be easy to break, but I don't know.If you know a gunsmith that would be honest about it,give him a call and ask.If you did break it,I'd say it'd be a real beotch to get out.

I *think* that many of the beads on current production 870's are not threaded at all, but are staked in. If yours is like that, it is a PITA to get out and install a new bead.
