usually somewhere in the 300-400 range per trip. I only shoot it about once a month.

It's ranged from 30 rounds to 500 rounds in one sitting. Just depends. Probably gone about 800-1000 rounds is the most I have gone between cleanings/maintenance, and only because I just feel guilty after going that long without cleaning my weapon, not because of any type of failure.

Every range session is different for me. I have different goals for each trip. Some are just plinking trips where I want to shoot one of my guns that hasn't been shot much lately or I might have a certain type of ammo I want to test out or any other type of "test" I want to conduct. I might want to work with my handguns one day and practice drawing from a holster or from where I am CCW'ing or whatever...

So it all depends.

Damn, with that many rounds there is no way you could get all the copper fouling out of the barrel. I'm into accuracy and that just sounds abusive to a barrel. Maybe I'm anal, but I like to keep the barrels as clean as possible everytime I take the RRA out to shoot.

I usually run about 200 rds through each rifle at the range. Sometimes more sometimes less. It all depends on what else I have brought to shoot and what I'm doing in. I took a J&T build out last month and only ran 100 rds through it for function tests with three types of ammo.
I try and make it to the range once a month, if I'm lucky.

I'll shoot 200-300 rds. Some of it is "scientific" shooting for accuracy or trying out different ammo. Then maybe a few mags of some crappy ammo that I'll shoot off hand at bowling pins. Finally I'll load up some decent stuff (IMG/WWB/PMC) and just work on practical accuracy shooting. Lately this consists of crunching clay pidgeons at 200yds from prone. Its not exactly match gade shooting (2moa?), but I have never seen a drop in accuracy at that level no matter how many rounds I've shot.

Usually between 100 and 300 for me and I go about once every 60 days.

By myself? 60 rounds. 2 mags. After that it's just blasting and not real practice. Blasting is fun but it doesn't necessarily improve marksmanship.

How many rounds do I shoot through my weapons at the range? That is a broad question. I have shot anywhere from 1-1000+ in a day. It depends on what you are doing. If I have a new shooter up with me I shoot as little as possible so that they can shoot more and I can help them out. If I am up with my shooting buddies then it depends on the skill we are working on. If I am up there by myself then I do tons of timed drills and also some experimentation. Basically that question is a lot like how far do you drive when you leave your house? It all depends on where you are going.

Usually about 300 rounds per session but it varies.

Depends. Are you a high power or varmint shooter? Then anything over 100 is most likely extreme to you.

If I am getting some trigger time in before a class, I will shoot a couple hundred.

Both. I love to shoot high power rifles and at extremely long ranges. I have a custom 300 Ultra Mag that I was shooting out to 900 yards last summer. I break all my barrels in on my rifles, because I'm into the accuracy game. Whether or not burnishing a barrel as they call it is worth the time can be debated, but it seems like it helps with the cleaning process so I'm going to continue to do it. I do the one shot, clean, one shot, clean for about 10 rounds and then go from there to groups of three till I have about 20-30 rounds through the barrel. After that I shoot it normal depending on the caliber and how well it cleans up.

I know the AR's is a whole different game, but with the quality of barrel that is on the RRA's I'm breaking the barrel in the way I did my 300. It just seems weird to shoot round after round without somekind of cleaning. I'm use to shooting 20 rounds through my 300 and spending a couple of days using Hoppe's Benchrest to get the barrel as spotless as possible. It is time consuming, but once I break in my RRA I will probably put a couple dozen rounds through it between cleanings.

Regarding the issue of cleaning vs. # of rds, does anybody moly coat their bore? I've done it to some of my .22's and it seems to significantly reduce lead build up and general dirtiness. I don't know if it would do anything for copper in an AR, except possibly create unforeseen problems.

Like most everyone else that posted it depends for me.

If I just finished a new build or am sighting something in I might shoot 120-200. If I'm getting ready for a class I might shoot 300-500. If the wife and kids are out of town or if I have the whole day to work on drills and practice I might go through a whole case.
