IDPA Compact Match: what gun?

My total score was 56.28 and I was 14th out of sixteen. I shot my carry piece: a smith 642 and used 158 grain semi-wadcutters. The lightweight revolver is my carry gun. I also have a Ruger sp101 in the safe. Should I shoot compact matches with the Ruger as I believe I'd get better scores.

I rarely carry the Ruger. I shoot a Glock 19 in IDPA SSP matches BTW. I don't use a compact pistol.

I think it depends on your goals for IDPA. If you view IDPA participation as a chance to practice defensive skills, use your carry weapon. If IDPA is game you want to win, use what will help you do that within the rules.

In a side match with compact guns, for heaven's sake, shoot what you carry! Learn to shoot it better.
