View Full Version : My M4 is zeroed, all set to go(picture)
Well, went to the indoor range and shot 20 rounds and it was shooting a little high, so I moved the front sight up a notch, and all seems to be really good right now.
Below was from 25 yards, 6 shots.

Nice group, however you should be zeroing at 50 yards using the IBZ. (http://groups.msn.com/TheMarylandAR15ShootersSite/improvedbattlesightzero.msnw)
You'll end up being within approx. 2" (POA to POI) all the way out to approx. 240 yards.
That looks a little complicated!
This is the instructions that came with my Bushmaster, so that's what I followed.

IBZ is the way to go in my opinion. It makes everything so much easier.

Keep it simple:
Disregard the elevation wheel, and shoot POA=POI, at 50yds.
-or-
Disregard the elevation wheel, shoot -1.3+/-, at 25yds.
Use large aperture (0-200) on both.
Thereafter, shoot at various distances and learn the gun.
I like the 50 Y IBZ for carbines and "dot sights" but I actually prefer the USMC 36 Y zero for full size rifles.
KISS method is set the elevation drum to 8/3 (or 6/3 for removable handle) and zero POA/POI

50yd zero is the way to go.

So if you're shooting a 25yd range. Then the POI should be how high to match the 50yd procedure?

Was going to go today and zero at 50 yards, but the weather won't cooperate, and it was running all day.
Hopefully one of these days that I have off will be nice and I can get to the range.

I must of made a mistake. I zero'd at 100 yards. Is that going to cause me some problems?

1. Switch to same plane rear aperture.
2. Zero at 50 yards with small aperture.
3. Never worry about it again.
