I have an old Police trade in that I'm thinking of sending in to Wilson for a makeover. Anyone that has sent one in, how did you like it, and what was the turnaround time?

THANKS!

You would be better served, IMO, to do what you want done yourself. Wilson is overrated, and overpriced, in my experience. They took a great company, Scattergun Techonlogy, and ruined it.

I even thought of Gunsite. A friend of mine had one built a few years back.

Gunsite...? Gunsite is a shooting school and not so much of a gunsmithing company (thought they do have a very competent gun smith on staff).

My recommendation would be to send you shotgun to Vang Comp Systems. Hans Vang makes and sells some of the best after-market shotgun parts. Plus he can modify your barrel so that you will shoot very tight buckshot patterns. See here: https://www.vangcomp.com/

Give Hans a call and tell him what you want. He should be able to set up your shottie very nicely. By the way, his shop is about six miles from Gunsite, if that helps.

A good friend of mine has a shotgun that was built at Gunsite. Of course he had it done while taking the class. It is a nice looking gun.

I thought of Hans, and he is probably the best one to use. I do have a 590A1 that I plan to send to him for sure in the near future.

Thanks for the info guys.

Sounds like a great reason to take a Gunsite 260 (shotgun) class. I took the 260 in March. It was truly a great experience.

Most of their stuff is do-it-yourself IMHO.

I like this guy. http://www.arizonaresponsesystems.com/

He's an excellent smith though he does not advertise the fact.
I've had a few triggers done there and one 870 coated. He is very thorough.
I did have a barrel Vang'd. In fact it was on the gun that ARS coated for me.

I like the Wilson followers and springs and I would recommend those.
Sidesaddles and plastic stocks you can find anywhere and I like the factory extensions AND clamps.
I use factory rifle-sighted barrels with nuclear inserts so I've no need of a site-installation.

Thank you for that info. I may just send this one in for a coating and do the rest myself.

THANKS!
