Well, after much ado, it is finally finished enough for a trip to the range. The rifle is not complete as I am going to put a standard A2 stock on it. For now, the pinned collapsible will have to suffice.

What kind of parts do you have in/on it?
The A2 stock has a really really long LOP. I suggest something shorter but still fixed. Take a look at the Sully Stock (http://www17.serrahost.com/servlet/defensive-edgenet/Detail?no=83) .

A2 length is most suitable for service rifle and bench rest type applications. A little long for most, even then.
For fixed, my preference is also the Sully Stock. Other than that, nothing longer than A1-length.

Stag lower with a Bushmaster parts kit. LMT upper with a Bushmaster 20" h-bar. The bolt and carrier are from M&A parts, but I am not sure the brand. They hinted that they it is also LMT, but I am not sure. The rear sight is a DPMS.
To comply with the laws of my state, I have a 10 round magazine locked into place.

Goblue and Skintop, I think that Sully Stock looks pretty cool! I already ordered the fixed stock. I am 5'11" and the A2 stocks are not too bad to me.
If it is not too late, I suggest trying to cancel the A2 stock. It is really too long to properly shoot an AR standing. As Skintop says, it is for competition shooting.
How do you plan to use your rifle? For target from a bench (sort of implied with a 20" HBAR)? If that is the case, then the A2 stock will work, but if you plan to use it in more practical/tactical scenarios, then the A2 is not the best setup.
I am building a 20" sometime today. I am using an A1 stock, which is still pretty long. Only reason I went for the A1 on this versus something shorter was cost... It was used and set me back something like $25.
In any case, nice rifle. Looks like it will be a great shooter.

For now it is purely for target or comp shooting. I will be building a tactical upper for it and will have the stock that is on it now for that configuration.
I have to say, I love the balance of this rifle with the heavy barrel on it!
Talk to me about your rear site.
What brand?
Do you like it?
Nice rifle. I have a standard A2-HBAR. It is good for range and varmiting.

Rear sight is a DPMS and I do not really like it much. Just got back from the range. The sight post loosened up after about 50 rounds and I am not to happy about that. The apeture is no longer lined up correctly.
I am looking at the ARMS #40 as a replacement. Anyone have any experience with this particular sight?

I have one. No elevation adjustment.:frown: If I had to do it over again I'd get a different brand for that reason alone.

Most BUIS don't have elevation adjustment, as that is accomplished by adjusting the front sight.

I'm not clear what you mean my the "sight post" on the DPMS rear BUIS, but if the mounting knobs are working loose, apply a bit of Loctite.
Although there are those that don't like the ARMS #40 variants, I have had good luck with them, as well as the YHM rear BUIS. I have a Troy BUIS on one, but they run about $140.

The DPMS is based on the A2 type sight. I may not have my terms right here. There is a threaded "post" that sits vertically in the sight base. It is controlled by the elevation knob. Unfortunately, the sight base seems like it may be machine a bit to liberally and aperture assembly is able to shift around. Only if I have the sight locked all the way down does it tighten up so that the sight alignment does not shift around.
I am not sure if it is just a fluke as everyone else that I have spoken to about the sight I have says they like them a lot.

Update on the A2 stock. It arrived and I installed. Shot it last night for a little while and I like it. Cannot wait to get it out onto the BLM range area down here to sight it in at distance!
