What the heck is a mk9 box, my new blue book sez the MSRP as well as the TRADE value are less than the other mk9's. The long version please, as this is Kahr 101 for me.

IIRC they are rarely found with stainless slides (BOX'ed over). They are clearly stamped "stainless" on the slide and are to be snapped up... Kahr routinely finishes out a production run with whatever parts... I have seen PM9s with carbon steel extractors...

So a black slide that DOESN'T say stainless anywhere on it is just carbon steel thats coated black ?
There's two guns on GA or GB can't recall, both mk9, both NIB, and the buy price is like 465 or less than 500, I think.
I'm gonna go back and look @ price again.
Thanks

I checked again at Guns America, and the two MK9 are 465 and 469 each
NIB.
Ain't that cheap ???

Just make sure what comes in the factory box. These look to me (at least the one with photo) as BOX guns meaning black oxidized slide (not stainless) and one magazine. I have seen some BOX guns with two magazines, that is why I would ask. Besides the selling dealer doesn't know much about Kahrs. Claims to have aluminum slide and a 2 and 3/4 inch barrel. Of course, that is incorrect.

The MSRP for MK 9 BOX is $475.00 so $10.00 discount is not such a great deal. Sorry.

I bought my MK9BOX on GB last August for under $400 including freight. Carbon steel slide, came with two mags. Originally from the factory they came with only one mag.

Any problems to date, with it.?
Does the black wear off?

maggie,
I've had problems with stovepipe FTEs, mostly with +P ammo. I suspect they are largely because of faulty technique on my part. Mag pinky extensions, skate tape on the grip, and practice seem to have eliminated the problem. Even so, the percentage of failures is less than three-quarters of one percent. I'm workin' on it...
No, the finish doesn't wear off, or at least I don't see any wear. There is one fine scratch where I dropped it. The color is dull, matte black. Lube oil seeping out around the edges is visible as darker areas. It looks like a machine. I like the two-tone, and I like the "mechanical", "imperfect" look of the BOX finish. Others might disagree.

Here's mine!

Mines doesn't have the stainless stamped on it and it came with 2 mags. I haven't had any failures on it at all and it has about 400 - 500 rounds through it.
