Rust or Packing Grease?

I just spent about 20 minutes cleaning the mags that came with my new Vertec. Can someone tell me if they come with a packing grease that looks suspiciously like rust? The mags that came with my 92FS were the same way, as was the barrel. The barrel on my Vertec didn't have this, but then it is stainless.

I have had a brown packing grease on some mags--I don't rember Beretta mags having that grease though.
