View Full Version : I finally sent off for my C&R unlearned69 05-05-2006, 19:24 Placed my forms to the BATFE and CLEO in the mailbox about half an hour ago. We'll see how long it takes the license to show. Sapperstang 05-06-2006, 06:20 Took mine less than three weeks. unlearned69 05-06-2006, 09:33 Awesome! How long ago did you apply? jesse485 05-11-2006, 22:53 I am currently filling mine out. Does anyone know if I need permission from the CLEO before I send out the forms? Can the CLEO deny the lic., or just the ATF? Sapperstang 05-12-2006, 16:39 Cleo can send a recommendation for denial I guess in the case you have a "local" record. unlearned69 05-12-2006, 16:50 No, you do not have to have CLEO permission prior to application. The copy of your application that you send to them is notice that you have applied. It is up to them to contact the ATF if they have a problem with your application. nognig 05-13-2006, 10:34 I got mine last summer and it took 24 days if I remember correctly. A C&R license is one of the best keep secrets in gun collecting. You save the cost of the license in your first purchase. Don't forget the dealer pricing you get a Midway and Brownell's. I bought scope mounts and rings (Burris) and saved 30% of their normal price. I couldn't find a cheaper price anywhere else on the net. NN jesse485 05-15-2006, 09:34 I just officially moved about 3 miles away where it is considered a different town. My CLEO changed as well. Do I need to wait some specific time period before I apply with this new address? I didn't see anything on the application. m2hmghb 05-15-2006, 12:57 I can't even get one since NJ doesnt recognize the liscence. Medievaltech 05-15-2006, 14:43 I just got my license in the mail today, it took a total of 15 days. Now i have the feeling im gonna stay broke:supergrin: unlearned69 05-15-2006, 16:30 15 days?? Sweet!! I got a call from my CLEO's secretary today telling me that I had forgotten to fill out a section. She told me that I forgot 10 b. and c. She is sending me the form back even though I told her that I don't need the CLEO's signature or anything. I got on surplusrifle.com and looked it up, and apparantly I was supposed to leave them blank. Oh well. I'll get it tomorrow and send it back with a note. unlearned69 06-02-2006, 22:47 Well, my license showed up at 5/31/06. Received the big packet today. Going to make copies and send them out. Other than midway and brownells are there any other dealers that offer discounts to C&R holders? Robert302 06-22-2006, 01:25 Where do I get the C&R papers to fill out? fastvfr 07-03-2006, 20:02 From the BATFE. Duh! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_Firearms_License) Actually, the above is a Wiki article about the proper forms and background you might find interesting. Here's the direct link to a copy of Form 7CR, along with a few others. I've saved several hundred dollars this year alone. www.Surplusrifle.com has a list of vendors that discount to 03 FFL holders. Other than midway and brownells are there any other dealers that offer discounts to C&R holders? I already got C&R forms in the mail. I am waiting until I get my CHL before I start applying for the C&R license. It's going to feel so good to order surplus Mosin Nagants online for $80! I have 2 questions: Above it is said by someone "Going to make copies and send them out". Am I suppose to make copies of the forms, then fill them out and mail them out? Also, I see the application has 4 pages, 2 for the ATF and 2 more for the Local CLEO. After I get them all filled out, I am suppose to mail the first 2 pages(ATF copy) to the ATF and then mail the last 2 pages(Local CLEO copy) to the local police station? I guess to the CLEO's office. I'm I correct? Can someone please help me out with this? Thank you, I really appreciate it! :) Nicky D 07-22-2006, 23:30 Originally posted by Robert302 I already got C&R forms in the mail. DO NOT sign the original license, just make copies or scan it into your computer. After you have copied it and signed the COPIES, you can send it off to all of the usual dealers like AIM, SOG, Empire Arms, this is for their files, you can also now fax your license to dealers. Once they have your license on file then you can place a order anytime you would like. Then you can send a copy of your license to places like Brownells and Midway for dealer discounts! Having one of these licenses is the best and the worst thing ever, you will go broke with all of the deals you never knew you needed or had to have because it is the last of the inventory! Here is a list that I found on cruffler.com. Good luck and be prepared to go broke. I am not worried about the mailman, he is replaceable! My wife on the other hand would kill me if I had that much delivered, as it is now she just rolls her eyes and gives me that look. vBulletin® v3.7.3, Copyright ©2000-2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd. | ![]() |
