Saw a 1917 eddystone springfirel bolt action military rifle at a usually over priced store. Super clean and nice. $600. Is it worth it? Can't get peep sighted A3 03 w/ peep sights from CMP anymore and they cost $400.
Should I get the eddystone?

I lucked out and got an exceptional Eddystone from the CMP last year for $350, but I am not sure there are any decent ones left from them. And, as you say, CMP is out of 03A3s.
The P17 is a good rifle, so the one you are looking at should be worth purchasing at that price. Of course, you should always bargain...you might get an even better deal.

I went out to the CMP website and read a few things. Eddystones are not that rare. Even real clean, this one may not be worth $600 so I will sit and watch it.
Thmks for the CMP reminder. Makes me want to shoot the Garand this weekend.
