I only have a few hundred rounds through my 97B so far and took it apart this morning for a good cleaning. The first thing I noticed was that the plastic guide rod was slightly bent. I had to rotate the rod around till it was in the correct position to let me to the slide all the way back. Why would CZ go cheap and install a flexible plastic guide rod in their CZ 97B - isn't this a critical part or what? I just ordered a stainless one and 16lb recoil spring from JackAsh today. I really like my 97B (fit, finish, accuracy, price), but now feel a little disappointed in CZ quality. Best Wishes! Pecos Bill out.

Well I hope you get your recoil rod. I ordered one from him what I think was several months ago and have not received it yet. I sent him an email a week ago and never got a response.

I love my 97b and I got the idea from the net to make my own guide rod from a Stanley brand hinge pin. No joke. It takes some trimming to fit, but there is info on how to do it on the 97b Forum. The one on www.czforum.com

Could just call CZ-USA and let them know. They will send you a new one more than likely.
Polymer guide rods are common these days,so its not just CZ.
I have yet to have a problem with the polymer stubby guide rod in my 1998 model 97B.Maybe Im lucky.
A little trick to do when installing a XP Wolff recoil spring.Install the spring and assemble the pistola.Lock the slide back and leave it for a few hours to overnight. The Wolff springs are a bit too long in the 97B,but not so much to cause a stacking issue.Locking the slide back lets the spring take a set.Once this has happened the spring will set straight in the spring channel without binding or snaking around.
I tried the Jackash FLGR,and in the end I preferred the factory stubby. The FLGR does fill the hole nicely in the spring plug. That was the only advantage I could see.
